Nyrandisa had decided to visit the best looking beach-like area she could. She was dressed on the outside with her normal robes. Underneath, however, was some swimwear in case she decided to make a dip into the water. However, her intent was not to go swimming at all. She just wanted some time to relax from working on her own persona projects for a little bit. Setting up a nice little area, she set a blanket down to lay on. The sand leading to it had no tracks since she floated over the sand. She actually hated sand. It is coarse and gets everywhere. It also was never fun to get it onto her wings. Once properly set up, she just laid down gently on her side, looking into the ocean, lost in thoughts, all alone for now. Her thoughts were not really good ones. They were full of worry about Neraida for the most part, as well as if her presence in The Pack would look bad on Suleiman if he was still in good graces with Neraida. They were also elsewhere, but she cast then into the back of her mind, though time for that was cutting it close. [Opem Prompt anyone can take]

For about the past 4 days, Mars had rarely left his tent. He left only to grab enough food from the convoy to eat, and to wash his robes outside of his tent. These behaviors, he figured, were less than healthy for him. So, more in the fear that Seed would scold him for acting this way than for his own dislike of the unhealthy lifestyle, Mars decided to finish his work outdoors. Mars walked off to find someplace quiet enough, and eventually settled on an quiet, almost abandoned beach front. After looking around and seeing no one well, around, Mars went back to his tent to retrieve his gear. When Mars returned to the beach, he saw his teammate, well, friend now, he supposed, laying on a blanket in a quiet corner, the same quiet corner Mars had intended to use as a place to relax and get some work done. So, he had a thought. Well, she did say she would be willing to help me in my translation efforts, and even if she is unable to help, at the very least, her conversation will be a nice help to keep my sanity intact after bashing my head against this thing. Thusly, Mars started strolling up behind the Jera, and when he was still fairly far away he said, loudly enough to Nyra could hear, hopefully "Hello there Nyrandisa! I see I wasn't the only person who though that this was a good place to relax." Mars waved over to the woman, and continued walking towards her.

NethaEmerald:

She was still sulking in her own thoughts when she decided to carefully lay on her back to just look up to the sky, hearing instead of seeing the waves. However, very shortly after she did, a voice had rung out across the beach area she was on. Not wanting to bother to look up, she simply listened to it and realized it to be Mars' voice. Not quite sure what to think of him wanting to come over and interject on time she thought would be alone, she did rspond with "Oh. Hey Mars. Maybe you could call it relaxing. I'm not quite sure." It was clear that she wasn't quite fully 'there'. Like she had come to dwell on things than to relax officially. She did attempt to look from where she laid at him, but was having some difficulty since he must have come up from behind her.

Mars' expected Nyra to be sleepy, or at least, he expected her to be less than fully focused. So he didn't really get the hint. "Well, if you want to call it sleeping, meditation, pondering, or what have you, it all seems quite the same to me. Or maybe that's just because I do all of those things often." Mars was still walking towards Nyra, his robes flapped back and a gust kicked them back, and also some sand onto his legs. "Would you mind if I sat down nearby you? I had actually scouted this place to get some work done and had plans to use that spot. You don't need to move, and if you want me to go somewhere else, I'll happily oblige." At this point, Mars was within a speaking voice's earshot, but had stopped, and was awaiting an answer.

NethaEmerald:

"Pondering is the best way it could be described." She responded back about his first little note on why she was at the beach. She slowly started to sit up a little more, enough space on the blanket currently that her robes didn't catch any sand as she did. Once fully seated up, she heard the question he asked. "So his reason is to be in the same spot, huh?" She thought to herself. Regardless of the small hestitation in her head, she shifted a bit on the blanket. "I don't really mind. Though not sure how much longer i'm going to stay here, though."

"Well, to each their own. I came down here because I had work to do, and camp was getting rather loud." Mars was technically telling the truth, it was rather loud at camp, and he did have work to do that would be far harder with the noise. But it was also quite easy for him to make his tent soundproof with a simple spell. Mars liked that feeling, but also realised that it was probably not a good thing to be technically lying all the time. "I brought along my tome, alongside the a key of characters and a key for pronunciation that I made. Each of those carries their own little challenges with them." Mars was stretching the truth, again. In reality those things were incredibly hard to work with, the character key being only half finished, and the pronunciation key being nigh impossible to read, and even harder to actually pronounce. Regardless, Mars threw off his robes, revealing a thick undershirt and a pair of rather baggy pants, and set them on the sand to use as a blanket. He then pulled out 2 separate notebooks, and after flipping through dozens of pages on each one, all containing messy scribbles and the occational, poorly made, drawing, Mars set down the 2 on specific open pages, and finally pulled his black-bound tome out of the inner pocket of his robes, before setting it down on the ground. "Time to get this done." Mars said aloud with a determined smile on his face, entirely forgetting that he was sitting just outside arms reach of someone.

NethaEmerald:

When he just plopped down and went into all-work mode, she tilted her head a little. "Sounds like you've been doing that for the past few days. Why don't you just take a break from it? Working too hard will burn you out and cause more mistakes to be made than if you just took breaks." Funny she said that, considering she herself hadn't intended to have fun. "Though I can't stop you from your work. Not my place to stop someone from following their passion..."

"..." Mars was staring down at his books, silent. Before laughing a little. "Heh, yes I do suppose that that wouldn't be good for me." Mars continued staring "... I... can I ask you a question?" Mars' voice suddenly went quiet "I... I think I need some advice, and this is no laughing matter, so know that before you answer yourself." Mars was still staring down at his books, a sad look on his face.

NethaEmerald:

When Mars got all serious, she watched him as his tone changed in the snap of a finger. "Hmm. What advice are you looking for? Depending on the questions and context, i'll see what I can do to help you. Though I am also mentally bogged down by a lot, just to give a warning." She was completely worried about Neraida. Though she wasn't too public about how she had some to even come close to The Pack to begin with but anyone but Kiera, Seed, Zain, and Saarva. "Perhaps it could help to talk about it a little more..." She thought to herself, confused.

!= Evo Champ:

"Well... there's this... question. That's been echoing through my head for about a month now and... I..." Mars trailed off, his face was red, clearly embarrassed "I'm... scared of it. Scared of the answer, scared of what answer I would come up with if I gave myself enough time to actually think about it instead of simply avoiding it." Mars finally managed to speak, pouring out his feelings. "Y-You see, I have this goal, this ambition that I... I need it. I-I need it to be complete as soon as possible. T-The specifics don't matter but know that every day I don't finish it is another day that people suffer." Mars was stuttering through his words "I... I've always lived under the assumption that I must complete it at all costs. That it doesn't matter if I fail as long as I make progress. That it doesn't matter if I get hurt, or hurt myself in the pursuit, that what matters is only that it gets done, regardless of if I live to see it... But..." Mars trailed off again "I need you to answer me honestly." Mars looked up, with at least some resolve in his eyes "I-Is that... selfish?" Mars' eyes still had the same look of resolve, despite his voice shaking.

NethaEmerald:

When asked that entire thing, Nyrandisa almost laughed. It would have been laughing along with it. She was quilty of having purely selfish reasons at the start of travelling with The Pack. And thile some things have changed now, her personal goal is still at the top. "Well, depends on what exactly your goal is. It's not wrong to have personal goals for yourself. I know I have a few of them. But if it's a goal for the good of others? Well, whether you're too selfish depends on what either types of goals are. If it needs you alive for a while to complete it, then you need some restraint. You can't accomplish anything if you pass away or are unable to complete it due to physical and mental ailments." Realizing she might be making much sense here, she decided to ask "But let's start with what your goal is, and the intended outcome once accomplished. Perhaps that can help me shed some more light on the topic."

!= Evo Champ:

"I... it... that's complicated." Mars said in response to her final remark "I... I don't feel comfortable telling you about my goals. D-Don't misunderstand me, I consider you a friend but... t-this is something that I can't tell you...yet." It was clear that whatever Mars' goal was, it was very personal, and incredibly important to him. "T-The most I'm willing to say is that I need to get stronger so I can free a group of prisoners, and kill the warden that hath wrongfully trapped them. I... won't say anything more," At this point, Mars' eyes had lost their resolve, and he was speaking quietly, defensively.

NethaEmerald:

She listened to everything he had to say. She wasn't offended by anything he had said: after all, she was guilty of the same. "Well, it sounds like you need to become strong. The intended goal, from what I can tell, is pretty selfless. However, I do not have all the details. I will tell you something, though; you aren't going to accomplish it if you neglect your own health. You can't help anyone if you're too injured to help them or if you're mind snaps." She took a breath. "I can understand wanting to become strong enough to fight for what you believe in. There are others in The Pack who have a similar goal for their own development. However, don't be afraid to just take a step back, both on the battlefield and from your own studies. You aren't alone in this group, and you'd be wise to ask us for assistance if needed."

!= Evo Champ:

"But..." Mars was clearly still conflicted "Every day I don't succeed is hundreds of people suffering... I need to save them as soon as possible... it doesn't matter if I get hurt doing that. Dragging you all down is the same as dragging down those same prisoners. I'm never too injured to work, never too broken to fight, I've worked as a mercenary for years and never had to deny someone a job because I was too tired, or too weak." Mars was denying himself of the truth, he had fallen in combat before, weakened to the point of being unable to fight, and he had been so totally confused that he was unable to work. That's how I've lived my life, I must continue like so, I must save them. Mars was still hiding his true thoughts and emotions, but his face wasn't exactly helping with hiding those things.

NethaEmerald:

When Mars went on to explain that he was happy to work himself to the bone and death, she just sighed. Clearly being caring and soft wasn't going to work here. "Then fine. Work yourself to the bone. All that's going to do is make you unable to save those that you care about. Haven't you noticed that you've fallen in battle many times lately? You can't keep going as you are. However, you keep insisting you're still fine. You keep insisting you can do it alone. Well, then i'm going to let you, but don't come asking for help when you're struggling because you're stubborn. Don't come when you're failed your task because you refused t take a break or ask for help." She said with a harsh tone. She actually wasn't mad at Mars, she just knows that being soft and comforting isn't going o get through to him based on their conversation so far.

!= Evo Champ:

"No." Mars plainly stated "N-No you won't." Mars' voice cracked a little "You care about me enough to not watch me work myself to death... t-th-that's enough... for me." Mars was stuttering and his voice was cracking "I won't fail... but... I realize what you're doing. Y-You're trying to show me some harsh truth... W-What you don't know is that y-you've helped me a lot already... I-I'm sorry." Mars looked up with a smile and a little laugh "Hah, l-look at me, the idiot mage that c-can't take a hint."

NethaEmerald:

"If you know the harsh truth, then why do you keep pushing yourself so hard? You already know that you've fallen in battle multiple times. You need to buck up and just take breaks. Ask for help from others. An army does not consist of a single person." She explained a little more.

!= Evo Champ:

"B-Because I have to. My goal is not something that I can rely on other people to help me with. I must be the one to save them. And therefore, I must be strong enough to save them by myself." Unbeknownst to Mars, he was giving away details here and there of his plan that he would never even begin to speak on, even with his, well, friends. "T-This goal is not only dangerous, it's one that I know no one will support me in doing..." Mars, now that he was recollecting himself, just a bit, realized what he was giving away.

NethaEmerald:

"And why do you insist on doing it yourself? You can ask on friends to help you with it, but if your pride means you have to kill this person yourself, then just tell them. And who said you would be relying on them to get things done for you? But whatever; it's clear my advice is falling on deaf ears." She looked back out to the ocean. "Now, if you're not going to listen when you asked, then i'll have to ask you to leave me alone. At least until you decide you're willing to listen and take in what I have to say. I came here to unwind, not get pent up."

!= Evo Champ:

"T-That's..." Mars was about to retort, but trailed off "...I understand... I-It was rude of me to simply shoot down advice... without giving you full context, after I even asked too..." Mars sighed and stared at the ground. "I-If I'm being honest, I-I know you are right... I... I recently had a talk much like this with another friend of mine... and in the end I-I felt like I do now. L-Like I understand you but... I'm unsure of what it means I've been doing my whole life..." Mars tried to laugh it off a little, but it wasn't hard to see through it "Heh, s-sorry... I'll be on my way now..." Mars leaned over, and started picking up his notebooks and tome.

NethaEmerald:

When Mars started to pack his things up, the Jera felt bad that she was asking him to go away. However, it was clear he wasn't going to listen to her, and she wanted to make a point that she wouldn't accept stubborness in friends. "You'll have to find that answer yourself, because it seems that only you can do it."

!= Evo Champ:

As Mars finished retrieving his things, he stood up, threw his robes over his shoulder, and started walking away. That's what I'm afraid of. Mars thought to himself and he slowly trudged through the sand, before setting his stuff back down, and getting ready to get back to work. I should've stayed.. should've kept talking... should've at least tried to resolve this... I know I can't do this alone... but... These thoughts echoes through Mars' head as he finished his translation.
