[11:18 PM] Shade: Stretching her arms up and yawning, Namaka walked into the pub with the evening sun filtering through the door behind her. 'Food, food... Wonder if they've got anything new?' Shrugging, Namaka looked around for an open table - either an empty one or one that she could join without issue, she wasn't too picky. Spotting a familiar face, she grinned and strolled over to the corner table. "Hey, Ayer, right? You mind if I join you? Haven't gotten a chance to really talk with everyone, what with all the marching and fighting."
[11:31 PM] Master baiter: Ayer was in the process of eating what seemed to be some kind of vegetable broth when he heard somebody call his name. He was fairly sure he knew the voice but he couldnt seem to put a name on it. One thing for sure, this wasnt the voice of an angry tenant telling him he was scaring the customers, for once. The Kano slowly raised his head from the bowl his eyes slowing down on the peculiar shark tail before meeting with the Ayzer's eyes. "Namaka. Please sit. If you want." Slow as he was, it was not hard to guess she came here to eat not really talk to people, and yet she took the opportunity to approach him. A pretty rare occurence for him. He would not refuse a bit of company. "The soup is bad. Not consistent enough. Take something else."(edited)
[11:34 PM] Shade: "Thanks!" She dropped down into the seat with a smile, being careful to tuck her tail to the side. "And that sounds fine to me. I got enough soup back home, so I'm happy to try something new! Anything else they have that you know about, or just the soup you got?"
[11:39 PM] Master baiter: She was bigger than him even seated. Unorthodox. The tail movements grabbed his attention again. He wondered for a second how tall she would be tail inculded before focusing on the conversation again. He ate here the last few days, and while he was far from knowing the whole menu he could recommend something. "The fish. If you didnt have enough back home."(edited)
[11:45 PM] Shade: "Hrm." She frowned slightly, before bouncing back to a smile and shrugging. "Ah well, might as well. It comes recommended, yeah?" A wink towards Ayer accompanied her last statement as she raised her arm to flag down one of the pub's waiters.
[11:48 PM] Master baiter: Ayer held back a sigh. Too blunt. And bad choice of word. A bad start again. "Sorry. Food made me grumpy. Should not have assumed. Where do you come from?"
[11:52 PM] Shade: "Huh?" Namaka blinked at Ayer for a moment, not understanding. A moment passed as she thought, and then it hit her. "Ooooh, no, I wasn't trying to imply- no yeah, I'm from Psari. It was just that you were right about having lots of fish back home. Comes with living on the water and all." She scratched her cheek and added, "Sorry to make you think that's what I was reacting to."

[12:01 AM] Master baiter: "Oh." The Kano blanked for a small second, then a timid smile curved his lips. He used the food as an excuse, but maybe he was actually grumpy. Very small flames escaped trough his horns. A bit of venting would not hurt. He knew himself. "It's trout. Did not see those when I was in Psari. Maybe you neither. If your home is not inland."
[12:06 AM] Shade: "Trout, huh? Doesn't sound familiar, so might not've been one of the fish around where I was. More than willing to try it!" She turned to the waiter, who had just arrived at the table. Before she could say anything, he said, "The trout, I suppose?" He got a grin in reply. "Yup~!" He nodded and walked off, and Namaka turned back to Ayer. "Thanks again for the recommendation. And for letting me sit here! Always good to eat with friends, yeah?"
[12:17 AM] Master baiter: Namaka calling him a friend kind of took him aback. Guess he could have predicted it coming with her overall attitude. "Does not happen a lot. It is .." He carefuly picked his words. "Pleasant. Pauses between battles are important."
[12:21 AM] Shade: Namaka leaned on the table, smiling widely at Ayer. "Oh, absolutely! Honestly, I'm not even really a fighter, but gotta do what ya gotta do in order to get everything back to normal, yeah?"(edited)
[12:33 AM] Master baiter: Ayer raised a brow. "Not a fighter? You are very apt. At magic. How did you learn?" Having fought near her not that long ago, he remembered her prowess pretty vividly. He battled with some mages in the past and she was better than most of them for sure. And some were professionals. If she did not deem herself a fighter, either she was overly polite, unlike that one heron, or she had loads of talent.
[12:36 AM] Shade: A smirk crossed Namaka's face. "Weeelll, about that..." She brought her hand up and formed a small orb of water above her palm. "Y'see, it's not actually magic. I mean, if you've seen me throwing around lightning that's totally magic, but the stuff I'm really good at is the water manipulation. And that's all natural ability; Ayzers can do some neat stuff with water, and I worked at it until I could do more. Apparently the way I use it in battle is pretty similar to water magic, so it's a good comparison. But I like to think that my abilities give me a lot more options, yeah?"
[12:47 AM] Master baiter: The Kano visibly retreats in his seat. More instinct than thought, he had always been like that. "A lot of options yes. Scary ones. A lot of talent still. I use fire. But not like magic" He sits straight again, drinking a bit of his soup between his sentences. "Not that it'd help. Shooting from too far."
[12:51 AM] Shade: 'Stupid Namaka, show off water in front of a Kano. Real genius,' she berated herself mentally. The water streamed down to her hand and soaked into her skin, quickly vanishing. "Yeah, that's a fair point. I mean, maybe you could do something like set the arrows on fire before you shoot them?" The random idea brought a smile to her face. "Although it doesn't really seem like you need it, yeah? You're pretty scary out there too."
[1:04 AM] Master baiter: "Does work. Rarely needed. Dangerous for others. Fire spreads. Cant control it if too far." The Kano plays with a small spike that fell from his shoulder, rolling it between his palms as a gentle smile appear on his face. "Is good idea. It's me. Dont want to do it. I'm a smith first, archer second. Fire is sacred. It birthes, create. I avoid fighting with it." A difficult moral to uphold when he lost himself in fights, but he believed in it. Ayer tightens his fist and a small crack can be heard. "I just shoot. It's enough. Without fire. If I shoot well."(edited)
[9:16 AM] Shade: "Oh, really? Sorry for the suggestion then. If you don't mind answering, is fire being sacred a personal belief, or is it something that a lot of Kano think?" Namaka was leaning forward again, gazing at Ayer and almost bouncing in her seat. "It's definitely different than the way Ayzer view water, and most other races don't have as strong a connection with any one element!"
[10:00 AM] Master baiter: Searching in his memory, Ayer remembered the source of his faith being the elder blacksmith of his clan. He had not really thought about it but while most of the warriors of the family had no problems fighting with their fire, it seemed like those that also smithed had a tacit agreement not to. "It's a family custom. I think. My clan is not from Fotia. Dont know how it really is there."
[5:28 PM] Shade: "Ah, alright. Still, that's cool! If you ever feel up to telling me about it, I'd be interested in hearing about it!" Namaka smiled at Ayer. She didn't think he'd take her statement the wrong way, although it was possible; some people weren't exactly happy to tell others all about their personal beliefs, and any attempt from another to learn about it was treated as an insult. But even if Ayer seemed a bit short with his words, it didn't seem to Namaka that he would take offense to something like this.

[5:24 PM] Master baiter: The Kano took her answer as an invitation to pursue but, how exactly would he explain? "It's not very .. structured. It's up to people. What they think of it. My master. The smith, that taught me. He taught everybody. He was old. Couldnt really use the tools anymore. And he didnt want. But he was the teacher. He just.." Ayer opens his palms and closes them repeatedly searching some kind of hand movement to show, but realizes nothing could really fit unless he talked. "The tools. He put the tools in your hand. And then he told you to work. 'Make this'. And you tried. You are still new. But you do it. You fail. It looks bad. But he says it's fine. And he tells you what he thought. He never showed you. He was a blacksmith. But you also were already. Different smith. He said what should change. But it's not really wrong. Just different. The way he made, the way you made, the way everybody made. They were all the right way. Just different. He taught you that. Because of the Fire." The Kano finds the gesture he wanted and creates a small flame within his palm that dances as he talks. "The material is dead. It's breathless. It wants to be. But it isnt. The tools are your hands. The anvil is your foundation. The hammer shapes for you. The tongs keeps the balance. The tools help you. But they dont give life. The Fire does. The Fire comes from within you. It has a will. It's savage. You have to control it. With the tools. And your mind. But it's pure. It doesnt want. It just is. And it's you. That is what the master taught. Nobody was wrong, cause it's your Fire." The flame grows a bit in his hands, taking the form of a small bow before Ayer snuffs it out.
[5:24 PM] Master baiter: "He cant teach you to use .. you. The Fire gives life to what you make. You put the Fire in. It's a new thing. But it's a bit of you. A pure Fire gives birth to pure things. That's what my master thought. And that is what I think. So I dont fight with it. It should make, not destroy. It is not to be tainted." The Kano scratches his head. "Sorry. Talked a lot. But not good explanation. It's difficult to teach. Personal. Not as good as my master."(edited)
[9:30 PM] Shade: "No, you explained it pretty well!" Namaka hurried to assure Ayer. "It's... a really good concept, from what I can tell. 'Everyone has their own way of doing things, but that doesn't make any one way wrong', huh? And focused around a Kano's Fire... It's a good concept." She smiled. "So many people think of fire as just burning things. I mean, even I did, yeah? But the idea that fire is meant to make, to create... It's a good one."

[1:30 AM] Master baiter: Ayer nods and takes a bit of his meal. "Some people of my clan dont agree. That the Fire is but any flame. A power to harvest and use for benefits. A tool. Some also belive it is part of them. Just like arms. Not using it is wasted potential, they say. The more arms you have, the stronger. The bigger your Fire, the stronger. Having that potential," he waves his upper arms "And not using it for battle. It's naive." The Kano tilts his head. "There is truth in their words. As much as in mines. It is just another way. They didnt understand that. Warriors clan. Not blacksmith clan. So I left. Not a bad thing. Traveling is interesting. You meet people. And you eat with friends. And you, why are you here?"
[11:28 AM] Shade: "Hmm. I think I like the sound of your beliefs more than theirs, but it's interesting to learn about the other side." Namaka leaned back in her seat. "Why I'm here? I just want things back to normal, yeah? This whole thing with the mysterious people attacking the tree and all, it has everyone scared or angry or... well, lots of different people are reacting different ways, but most of it's negative. I'm not saying everything's gotta be happy all the time, but this is making most places suspicious and unhappy. So I figure if I can help get it taken care of, people will go back to how they were acting before that happened."
[6:20 PM] Master baiter: 'Any excuse is good for prejudiced people to be suspicious, not that I'd say that.' "Entirely selfless intentions. Not a lot it in The Pack. Something one can boast about. To be expected from Ayzers. Very altruistic race. Not to diminish your goal."(edited)
[10:34 PM] Shade: Namaka's grin weakened, and she looked to the side for a moment. "I... uh, thanks." It felt like a lie. To say that her reason was 'entirely selfless'... She was sure Ayer meant well and believed it, but the guilt still sat in her chest like a leaden weight at letting him think she was that selfless.

[3:43 PM] Master baiter: Ayer was bad at interpretating them, but he never missed any attitude and body language changes. Years of archery did that to one's eyes. And Namaka was fairly easy to read. "Was I wrong? Did not mean to offend."

[11:11 PM] Shade: "Ah, no, you're- its-" Namaka struggled to explain before slumping in her seat, her smile nowhere to be found. "...Can I take a rain-check on explaining it? It's... kind hard to just up and mention, yeah?"

[1:24 AM] Master baiter: Ayer nodded, he understood. "I tend to see. Those things. Made me curious. Sorry for prying." He stands up and puts his bow on his shoulder. He hails the waiter and drops more money on the table than he should have, enough for two people. "I'm paying for her." He turns back to face Namaka. "Hope good food can make up for it. Thanks for eating with me. Let's do it again. Another time." He makes a small head movement and starts walking away.
[9:23 AM] Shade: "Um- thanks, Ayer! And... sorry!" Waving to the man as he walked away, Namaka sighed after he left. 'Great going, seaweed-brain. At least it seems like he's okay spending time with me again...'
