[8:31 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: ===RP Start=== A strange moth-creature stands at one end of the training ground, clad in an western priest's outfit. He's pointing two fingers towards the dummy on the other side of the grounds, and holding a small book with the other. The man closes his eyes and mutters a rythmic encantation, waving his outstetched fingers to the tune of his voice. Slowly, a wind starts to conjure around him, kicking up the dust around his feet to the tune of the hymm. The hymm becomes more intense, and the priest starts making large motions with his arms. Suddenly, he whips it towards the dummy infront of him, causing the surrounding wind to shoot forward. It creates a large bang as passes his finger, becoming a barely-visible forcefield heading towards the dummy. However, it fizzles out before acutally reaches it's target. The dummy only feels a light breeze pass by it. The priest throws down his book, making a rather pathetic display of frustration. "Arrgh! Dammit, I should've asked for that damn mage!"

[11:32 PM] != Izanagi: Mars had fallen asleep in his tent about an hour ago. The little swim he'd taken the fountain, alongside meeting Mille for the first time, caused him no small amount of stress. Mars loved to sleep when he had a lot on his mind, it let him think about the numerous solutions to any given problem, and he tended to think best when he abandoned conventional methods of problem solving. The rather loud bang, as caused by Suleiman however, had Mars awake quickly. After a quick peak to make sure the town wasn't being attacked, Mars exited his tent and started walking towards the training grounds, where he had heard the sound to begin with. When he arrived, he saw his teammate, Suleiman, practicing casting magic from a tome. "You know, most magic is supposed to NOT alert everyone within a kilometer's radius of where the caster is. What on Earth are you even trying to cast that could lead to that explosive sound?" Mars said with a little bit of anger in his voice, which mostly came from not being fully awake.(edited)

[5:53 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman lets out a frustrated sigh. His back is facing the mage. "My, you could be a bit more polite about it, no? That was some very poorly-performed wind magic, thank you very much. Apparently, I was putting too much power up front..." Suleiman says, his sentence trailing off once he turns and sees who he's talking to. "Oh, dear. Err.. Mars. Right. I've been wanting to meet with you." He says, slamming the book shut. "I've been trying to learn some proper self-defense in the form of Anima. I was going to ask you for some pointers, but I guess I wanted to see if there was anything I've learn from the guidebooks I've read." "So, would you be willing to help?"
[6:20 PM] != Izanagi: "Oh, sure." Mars said quickly and plainly.
[6:35 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman clasps his bug-like hands together. "Oh, well, great! I thought you were going to scold me and leave!" He pulls out the tome and turns around, opening it's pages. "Is what I said about a sonic boom correct, Mars? Am I putting too much unfocused power into my spells, or am I doing something else wrong?"
[6:42 PM] != Izanagi: "Oh, well for that I'd need to see you try casting it again, I can't really tell anything just from hearing a loud bang. So, go ahead, everyone needs practice." Mars said as he moved away to get a clear view of just what he was doing.(edited)
[6:56 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: The priest opens the book, and starts to chant again. Waving his left hand around, he conjures up a wind. He sends it forward, emitting a loud bang. However, it is much quieter this time. The doll infront of them gets pushed around a bit. "There. Critique it, please."
[7:13 PM] != Izanagi: "Well-" Mars began "you're off to a much better start than most. I'm going to assume you know, generally, how magic works, and thusly start pretty deep in, stop me if you are confused at any point here." Mars took a deep breath before speaking again "The reason why the whole thing exploded was the sheer air pressure, which sometimes happens when you fail to make a stable spell." Mars turned around and started off towards a nearby tree "There are several things that could be causing this, but, it is most likely a matter of how much you of the spell you are releasing at a single time, given your case of a single loud bang" Mars shook his hand about to emphasize "but then the magic doing almost naught after that short a distance." "However, that power of incredible force at a short range should not be considered useless." Mars reached the tree and pulled out his red-bound fire tome with his left hand "No magic should be considered useless, as in the right hands..." Mars placed his right hand on the tree, and after a short wait, another loud bang emanated from his hands, this one accompanied by smoke. Mars moved aside to reveal an incredible deep and clean cut hole in the tree, spherical in shape, and singed along the edge "everything has its uses." Mars paused for a little bit before realizing something important "Ah, right, all I did was tell you that what you were doing wasn't incorrectly casting a spell, it was just casting the wrong spell. If you wanted a more consistent and less burst-y attack, try taking a long inhale as you put your power into the catalyst, hold it until you have done it sufficiently, then exhale for a long time, and do not use all of the energy you gathered until your exhaling is complete."

[7:53 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman stood quietly as Mars went on his speech, nodding along to his words. Hmm. A bit of a showy teacher, isn't he? I wonder if he uses that tree trick every time he wants to impress... He bows his head towards Mars, a gentle smile present on his face. "Thank you, Mars. Your perspective is quite interesting, I must imagine. I suppose a powerful close-range blast would be useful. Though..." He looks towards the dummy. "...I am rather frail. Keeping an attacker at a distance would be much more perferrable for me. Though, I suppose I could create some sort of non-lethal flash-bang spell with that close range one..." Suleiman puts a hand on his chin, letting out a devillish chuckle. "I should say that I've had experience with magic before. I've worked in a cathedral for much of my life, you see. Light magic is common in there. Well, that, and I've been a healer for a long time. Some of the staff's fundamentals seemed to of had carried over to the tome. Though, having to aim your blasts is a bit alien to me. I'm used to the 'Lock-on' techniques used by most traditional staffs. All will come with practice, hopefully." The priest turns to the dummy, and repeats his ritual. This time, he follows Mars' advice, taking long a long breath beforehand. Upon whipping his hand forward, a less-powerful burst of wind goes forward. It reaches it's target this time, ripping through it's burlap skin and knocking it over. Before he can stop himself, Suleiman lets out a yell. "Ha! Maybe you do know something!"
April 20, 2018
[4:28 PM] != Izanagi: Mars' had a little smile on his face as he next spoke "Well, it's a start. Burlap is far from the heavy armor or magic resistant robes that some of our opponents will be wearing. But, I am glad that you have picked up on magic so quickly. You've taken the first step towards the greatest leap that anyone can take." Mars' smile faded "But I digress, you've made progress, but if you fail to continue progress, your mind, just like your body, will fall victim to atrophy and eventually become dull and useless. I'd recommend starting to use other types of magics, wind is versatile, and able to do great things, but not amount of tornados, rexcaliburs, or wind cutters will amount to the destructive power of a simple-" Mars snapped his fingers, causing it to spark, but naught more "......" Mars was silent, and snapped his fingers again, still, a spark, but nothing more. ".........." Mars tried again, nothing "........Faster...than... usual....Well....there... I... go." Mars' took deep, shaky breaths between each of those words, before falling to his knees, coughing up a not insignificant amount of blood, and swiftly falling on his back.

[12:29 AM] Kapkan is Trashkan: As Mars falters, Suleiman's expression becomes confused. He doesn't spring into action until Mars falls to his knees. "Oh, Kyria's Cu- dammit!" The priest quickly flies over to Mars. Mars hears Suleiman land next to him, and soon feels himself being rolled into a recovery position. "What in the hells is happening with you? Is this one of your- Argh! Where did I put that damned staff!?" Don't let this happen again, you fool! Suleiman looks up around him, searching for his healing staff. He lets go of Mars' arm and flies off. "Stay on your side! Cough if anything gets in your throat! And stay awake!"
[12:52 AM] != Izanagi: What, does he think I don't know that? Mars was about halfway to laughing before coughing up more blood, much less this time. What does he think, I wonder. Mars' mouth, dripping with blood, grinned widely. As he laid there, he got ready to fall asleep I wonder what I'll dream about this time. Sam? Linda? Father? Oh, I wish I could see father. What would he think of me, I wonder. Mars' smile didn't fade, but his slowly consciousness did.(edited)
[1:17 AM] Kapkan is Trashkan: As his conciousness faded, he could hear Suleiman flying back to him. "Kyria damned; this isn't just some bad opiates..." He feels somebody pulling on his arm, before his consciousness fades into nothing. TIMESKIP Mars' body currently lied on a cot in one of The Pack's tents. An assortment of medical supplies sat infront of him, most of them unused. Mars was unconscious, but he was breathing, and his pulse was stable. None of the priest's holy magic tests suggested that there was anything unusual either. For all Suleiman knew, Mars didn't have any obvious cause for his fainting. That didn't mean Suleiman would leave him, though. The Jera sat on a cot across for him, debating what he should do.
[1:37 AM] != Izanagi: Mars was having a pleasent dream. One of going off and finding someone to love, though, he could never tell who they were. Their conversations had the lover talking in a deep, distorted voice, one that sounded like it could've been any person's voice, just put through some kind of magic manipulation. Mars didn't care, he found someone he entrusted his secret to that didn't just leave, or try to kill him, or call him a monster. He found someone who even called his goals admirable. The two of them went to Mytia, to the capitol, Femina, and to the very place where Mars would challenge the royal guard leader to an unarmed fight, where he would win with his smarts, not burte force, as he was always told to use. Mars smiled and he pointed at the woman on the throne and yelled "YOU" before being pulled out of the dream, and back to as real and reality gets. Mars' eyes twitched, and he slowly started opening them to reveal the white ceiling of the tent.
[1:44 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman breathes a sigh of relief, a smile creeping across his face. Oh, thank God. He's fine. His smile fades. Though, it's not like you did anything meaningful for him; he would've been fine regardless of what you did. None of this would've been any real help; you always knew that. You did all of this do feel good about yourself. Hmph. Suleiman shakes his head. Dammit! Stop moping and help the fool! Slowly, the priest walks over to Mars. He looks down at his face, trying to give a gentle smile. "Can you hear me, child?"(edited)
[3:41 PM] != Izanagi: "Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah." Mars half moaned as he stretched his arms, above him, to the side, he sat up to get his arms behind him, finally in front of him. He did all this with his eyes still half closed. "Good grief, that was, uh, certainly something." Mars' voice was groggy and his speech was slow, as if he was having to manually retrieve the words from his brain to form the sentence he'd just spoken. After finishing that thought, his eyes finally snapped back into focus as he noticed just where he actually was "Oh." Mars turned to look at the priest next to him "I suppose you brought me here. Thank you for your help Suleiman. But if it's not too much trouble, I have a rather important question I need an answer for." Mars didn't skip a beat going from thankful to serious "Where did you find me?"
[4:07 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman tilts his head, caught off-guard by the question. "Err... where? You had fainted when you were giving me a lesson about anima magic, Mars. You fell down right infront of me, in the training grounds." The man turns around and starts walking back to a cot across from Mars. "Why would you be so serious about where I found you, anyways? I seriously doubt that you think a priest would find you in any sort of embarassing situation."(edited)
[5:38 PM] != Izanagi: Mars' expression didn't change "Elaborate. Was there anyone else there? What exactly happened? How did you do? How did our conversations go? Did I put you up to practicing magic?" Mars continued pelting Suleiman with questions about what had happened "It is important that I know what happened." Mars was no longer laying on the cot, and was closer to sitting on its edge, his arms crossed, still looking serious.
[5:52 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman chuckles to himself as he sits down on the cot. "My God, you are worried about this. You can at least answer my question before spouting off more." He clears his throat. "But, I think I should answer yours first. Two hours ago, I was practicing wind magic at the training grounds by myself. You came along, yelled about how I was making too much noise, and I asked you for some pointers. I showed my skills, and you critiqued them. You did some demonstrations for how to use magic. In one of these demonstrations, you suddenly went unconscious. I think it had to do with the magic you were casting; you fainted after failing to create a spark. If your pre-coma mumbling was anything more than nonsense, then I can assume fainting isn't an alien occurance to you." He leans back. "I didn't see anybody else there, if that's what you are worried about."
[6:16 PM] != Izanagi: "Thank you. That explains everything." Mars' expression softened quite a bit "My magic takes a lot more effort to pull off than most other types of magic. Most mages simply use their tome as a catalyst to channel the energy through, only using their power to shape the and increase the power of the spell. But there is a large flaw in that kind of magic, it limits what you can do to the number of tomes you are carrying. Tomes, especially ones meant for novice mages, have very limited uses, our bodies however, are a complex enough catalyst that it can be used to channel magic through it and create fantastic spells without a tome." Mars took a breath "But, bodies aren't meant to go through the stress of being used as a catalyst to shape spells, tomes degrade, and eventually break if they are not maintained, bodies will do the same if under similar pressure. Don't ask me how I first found that out, it's a story for another time. Regardless, when I use so much of my body that the energy is take out of me and I black out, I get some short term memory loss. I tend to jump start my memory after I see the place I was at, which is why I keep a journal of what I do and where, to keep myself from keeping a chain going and eventually waking up in a bar 2 countries over and 3 weeks later. I presume during my demonstration I did something that took a lot of energy to channel through my body, and caused me to black out shortly thereafter." Mars took another, deep breath "Well, I'm glad you brought me back here, you have my thanks." Mars did a little bow to show his thanks.
[6:55 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman bows his head to the mage. "You are welcome, Mars." "You didn't do much before blacking out. The only thing I saw you do successfully is blow a hole through a tree. That isn't an easy task, but I've seen you do much more than that last time we had a skirmish. Though, that may be because you bring books into battle as well... Pah. You seemed to of had expected more from yourself before you went under." He stands up, and starts picking up the medical supplies up from the ground. "If you are deteriorating, then perhaps it's because you are putting too much of a strain on your body. From what you've said, using the body as a catalyst for magic has major side-effects. And it sounds like you have been casting magic that was for a long time. Maybe there are some major long-term effects to this style of casting."(edited)
[8:28 PM] != Izanagi: "Oh, it's.." Mars stood up from the cot, and proceeded to almost fall right back down onto the cot "nothing... I mean, I don't practice this... who will? People tried it, people abandoned it, called it unnecessary, risky, dangerous, even. If I can... make progress... make this thing... become widely used. I'll..." Mars wasn't getting tired, he was just struggling to find the right words, and pausing frequently to try and phrase it as eloquently as possible "Well, I don't know what I'll do. But at least I will have succeeded." Mars smiled and laid back down "But however much I try to downplay it now, I am quite tired, I'm going to rest here for a little while before returning to my tent, please don't worry about me, I've been through this stuff before." Mars closed his eyes, as his smile, clean of the blood it was coated in before, faded away.
[9:25 PM] Kapkan is Trashkan: Suleiman listens, becoming more and more worried as Mars went on. His mind rushes through various questions, most of them boiling down to why? Why must he subject himself to this physical punishment? Why did he ignore everybody that told him not to go down this route? Why does he think this path will get him a reward? Suleiman closes his eyes. He'll burn himself out, soon. That, or he'll get himself killed. Perhaps both, if Kyria is feeling cruel. "Mars, please. I..." Suleiman, seeing that Mars is asleep, shuts his mouth. He continues to pick up the medical supplies he left on the floor. Once he has cleaned the tent up, Suleiman leaves. He takes one last glance at Mars. "Please, don't kill yourself for this, child. Your life isn't worth a small chance at academic success." He exits the tent, leaving Mars to sleep.
[9:43 PM] != Izanagi: Mars cracked one eye open to see Suleiman leaving, before sitting up and placing his legs back off of the cot Well, at least I know a few things now Mars thought to himself I know he isn't the kind of person to lie or exaggerate, I know he's the type to just trust when an ally puts on an act, and I know he's got enough empathy to save someone who just passed out in front of him. He'll be useful, especially if he remains under the impression that I get short term memory loss after passing out. I hope he gets strong enough to keep fighting, if he helps me on the front lines, he may just be someone I can trust, well, in my own way. Mars got up, still wobbly, and slowly walked back to his tent. I wonder, would I still go through will all these tests if I actually got that short term memory loss? Mars mused as he finally reached his tent.(edited)
