[6:16 PM] Nerf: "Hemlock, rhubarb, belladona...monkshood. Is that all?"

Without batting an eye, the old herbalist placed the unusual array of plants over the counter, allowing Sally to carefully examine them before nodding in approval.

"I'll take them," she confirmed as she placed a small sack of leaves over the Ayzer's open hand.
"If someone asks you, I was buying some coughing medicine," the criminal added  as she stored all her new acquisitions inside the small pouch she was carrying. "Not that I think anyone will, in any case."

"Sure, sure," the old man shrugged off as he returned his attention to whatever lied behind the counter. "I know how to be discreet."

Minutes later, Sally had abandoned the small building, and was now walking through the more much populated stands at the city's central market. Every now and then, she would stop her path to give a look to some of the shops, taking a good amount of time in each parade, despite not seeming to be particularly interested in buying anything.

[6:34 PM] Shade: Namaka yawned, staring at a particular food stall's wares. She'd worn herself out with her practice on the beach, and gained a few minor burns for her troubles. Now, food was what she needed.

"...Miss, are you going to buy anything?" The voice pulled her out of her contemplation, and she glanced up at the vendor. Despite her desire for food and usual willingness to eat different types of dishes, Namaka couldn't seem to decide on something to eat.

"If you're not buying anything, get out of the way." She grinned sheepishly at the annoyance directed at her, and moved away from the vendor. 'Guess I'll keep looking, I guess?'

[6:44 PM] Nerf: Isn't that the new girl? Hmm...

Noticing Namaka in the middle of the crowd, Sally simply waited for her to move to the next stand before approaching, walking past the Ayzer as she pretended to be interested in the food. Shortly after doing so, she casually turned around, only to find Namaka right in front of her.

"Hey! You are the new girl, aren't you?" She pointed out as she acted as if she was surprised by the encounter. "Uhm...Namaka was it? I don't believe we've had the pleasure to talk yet."(edited)

[7:26 PM] Shade: "Hm?" Glancing up, Namaka saw the other woman and smiled. "Oh, hey! Yeah, I'm Namaka. It's nice to meet you. What's your name?"

[7:53 PM] Nerf: "Sarah Blackburn, at your service...or just Sally if you prefer," she smiled in return. "Looking for something in particular?" She asked as she pointed towards the stall.

[7:55 PM] Shade: "Sally it is! And, uh..." Namaka sheepishly rubbed the back of her head. "I've been trying to find something to eat, but I can't seem to find something I really want right now. Not usually a problem for me, so I'm having trouble just getting something, yeah?"

[8:05 PM] Nerf: "It is a good time to eat...", Sally admitted cautiously as she gauged if the Ayzer was receptive to her not so subtle invitation. "I hear the seafood around here is pretty good, but I'm sure you know better about that than I do. Or do you fancy something different?"

[8:11 PM] Shade: She gave it a moment of thought, and then shrugged. "Mm... Sure, seafood sounds good enough. Better than just sitting around and not deciding anything, at least!" Namaka pointed a thumb over her shoulder, towards the part of the market closer to the docks. "You wanna come with and grab some food with me?"

[8:29 PM] Nerf: "I would never refuse such a kind offer", she nodded, completely unfazed by Namaka's obliviousness to her invitation. "If we are going to be fighting together, the least we can do is try know each other a little better. After all, it's hard to trust someone you don't know to watch your back, no ofence meant", she explained politely. "Now, shall we get going?"(edited)

[8:31 PM] Shade: "Sure!" Namaka spun around and started walking, turning her head to check that Sally was following. "You have any place in mind, or should we just look around until we see somewhere that looks good?"

[8:37 PM] Nerf: "I've heard good things about Kyria's Kitchen, despite the pretentious name", the criminal suggested as she caught up to Namaka. "It's just around the corner, so maybe we can try our luck there?"

[8:44 PM] Shade: "Sounds good to me!" Namaka smiled down at Sally. "Thanks for the suggestion - the place and what to go for, I mean. I might've been there awhile, just trying to figure out what to eat."

[9:11 PM] Nerf: "You don't need to thank me", she shrugged off. "I'm glad to help."

A moment later, Sally had ordered an outdoor table for two at the restaurant, and was now sitting in front of Namaka as she waited for the menu. Leaning forward in her seat, she crossed both hands over the table as she attempted to start a conversation.

"So, how did you end up involved in all this? It's been a while since we last saw a new face in the team, so I'll admit I'm a bit curious to know..."

[9:17 PM] Shade: Namaka shrugged. "Not really much to it, to be honest. It took me a little while to finally decide to join up, but I finally decided that I couldn't just let stuff keep going like this, yeah? So I went and talked to Saarva about joining up, and he sent me and Millie off to join up with you guys."

[9:28 PM] Nerf: Almost too simple to be a lie...but you can never be too sure

"That is very noble of you part, Namaka. But you know about the dangers this job involves, right? It's quite...unusual to see someone so willing to risk their lives over such selfless motives, to tell you the truth."

[9:34 PM] Shade: "I mean, I guess..." She placed her elbows on the table, holding up her head with her hands. "I just don't like everyone being all worried and unhappy, is all. Even if it's dangerous, I want to make things better, yeah? Get life back to normal."

[10:27 PM] Nerf: "Heh", she chuckled. "If that's good enough of a reason for you, then all the better. Dangerous or not, we could use all the help we can get. It's not exactly an easy job..."

The Branded briefly stopped her talking to receive the menu, quickly glancing over its pages as she waited for a response. After a short moment of consideration, she gave it back to the waiter, along with her order.

"I'll take the shelfish soup. And a glass of wine, please."

[11:14 PM] Shade: "I think I'll just have the salmon, with a pale ale for me." She mimicked Sally's actions, and then turned back to her companion and started speaking.

"Is it really that tough? I mean, I'm not saying I expected it to be easy, but isn't it just a matter of figuring out who those people were that attacked the tree? Find out who they were, tell the armies where to go and all that jazz."

[11:51 PM] Nerf: "I wish it was that simple. You'll see...", she looked around with some suspicion, "...this is probably not the best place to talk about this.  After all what's happened, I can't really trust in anyone but myself." Sally took a deep breath, trying not to let her own frustrations show too much as she carefully thought about her next words.

"You noticed it when you arrived, didn't you? Everyone is acting paranoid, as if they were about to be deceived by the first person they trust. And I can't really blame them for it, given how we've already been played for fools more than once. I'm afraid whoever attacked the tree has a reach that is far beyond what we had initially thought possible. Finding who they are is just the tip of the iceberg."

[6:18 PM] Shade: “That’s...” Namaka frowned. Something like this seemed impossible to her, but Sally and the rest of Zain’s group would know more than her. “...kinda scary to hear. But finding them’s still the first step, yeah? We just gotta be careful. I’d offer proof that I’m not tricking, but I’m not really sure what I could besides Zain’s word at the moment. So I guess I just gotta work at proving it, yeah?” She sent a grin at Sally.

[7:25 PM] Nerf: "Oh. No, you don't need to prove anything", she apologized, a little embarrassed. "Just focus on doing your job, and leave the tricksters to me. They might have gotten the upperhand on us in the past, but believe me, I will find them. And once I do..."

She never finished her sentence, but from her somber expression, it was evident that whatever she was thinking on doing was not something pleasant.

[8:49 PM] Shade: Listening to her new companion, Namaka could only nervously laugh. Sally seemed deadly serious in a way that Namaka was not at all used to.

"I'll, uh, just leave it to you then. I'll just listen to the boss-wolf and do my job, help out where I can." She shook off the darker atmosphere from Sally's words and grinned. "Lemme know if there's anything I can do to help, though!"

[10:04 PM] Nerf: Just as quickly as it had come, the somber expression disappeared from Sally's face and was replaced by a cordial smile, in a way that almost made it hard to tell if such a reaction wasn't but a mere product of Namaka's imagination, and not something that had actually been there.

"Oh, but of course. I'm sure you'll have plenty of chances to show off your talents, so I'll be counting on you."

As if trying to steer the conversation away from such unpleasant topics, the criminal casually abandoned her previous demeanor, following up with something that Namaka should have an easier time replying to.

"Speaking of which, I'm curious to know about what those talents may be." She leaned forward in her chair, in a way that made it seem like it was an extremely interesting topic to her. "Everyone here has got some unique skills, and I'm sure you are not an exception...mind telling me about them, or do you prefer to keep it a surprise?"

[10:23 PM] Shade: “Nah, it’s fine. I’m happy to share!” Holding her hand out over the table, Namaka carefully drew water out from her navel, pulling it up her body and down her arm. There, it hovered in a small sphere above her palm. “You know how we Ayzer can manipulate water, yeah? Well, I got interested in doing more with it years ago, and managed to get really good control over it. According to some mages I ran into once, I’m actually about on par with actual water magic!”

[10:44 PM] Nerf: "Hmm...that is quite a rare talent, I'll admit", Sally stated as she fixed her gaze on the small sphere, as if trying to decipher the extent of Namaka's abilities just from watching it. "How long can you keep this up? If I'm not mistaken, you should only be able to store a limited amount of water inside your body. Wouldn't this become an issue during an extended battle?"

[10:49 PM] Shade: Namaka rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. “I try to keep myself topped up, but yeah, you’re right. I can take some of the water I use to attack and draw it back, but that’s all dependent on how much time I’ve got and the state of the water. I can’t touch any of it that gets... well, uh, mixed up with someone else, you could say.” Her smile wavered slightly, the discomfort with the idea showing.

“Although I can’t say I’ve really dealt with it much; most of this is just guessing based on the fighting I have done. Tunnel maintenance doesn’t exactly get me into lots of fights, yeah?”(edited)

[11:19 PM] Nerf: "No, no. That won't do." Sally shook her head. She didn't appear to be particularly upset, but rather disappointed, as if she had just found a diamond in the rough that still needed a lot of polish. "We can't have someone of your talent running out of water in the middle of battle. That will only get you killed."

With a simple movement, the Branded woman pulled a small glyph from inside one of her inner pockets, absent-mindedly playing with it as she spoke.

"Tell me, have you ever thought about learning actual water magic? I'm sure someone like you will have no problems getting the hang of it." The glyph disappeared again inside her clothes, before Namaka could even get a good look at it. "It's not exactly my field of expertise, but I believe I can at least help you with the basics. Or find you a book that you can study from. You know how to read, do you?"(edited)

[11:27 PM] Shade: “Yup! Fully lit- well, mostly literate...” She shrugged. “But water magic, huh? I mean, those mages said it’s not that different from thunder magic, so I guess it’s an option... But I’m already pretty good at using water the way I know, yeah? It’d be a pain to re-learn how to fight just for a small advantage like that-“ She froze for a moment, and then broke into a grin. “Ooh, wait! That gives me a neat idea!” Namaka bounced slightly in her seat, her grin widening as she did.

[2:40 PM] Nerf: If the carefree attitude the Ayzer showed towards the problem annoyed Sally in any way, she certainly did a good job of masking it, her expression barely even changing during the entire exchange. When she saw Namaka jumping excited like a little child, she simply listened with interest, as if she hadn't yet decided how did she feel about her reaction.

"An idea? Hmm...please go on."

[4:02 PM] Shade: "Well, if how much water I have is the issue, I could just use the water magic to create water for me to use and then do my own thing with it. That way, I don't have to learn to fight with water magic, but I don't have to worry about running out of water!" She beamed proudly, happy to have come up with an idea that let her get around the problem.

[5:50 PM] Nerf: That's...not very different from what I suggested...

"Oh, that is an excellent idea!" Sally's eyes lit up in approval. "Doing that would save you a lot of time, while still getting rid of the problem. Learning how to summon water shouldn't be too difficult after all."

[6:30 PM] Shade: "Yup! Probably not that much more complicated than thunder magic, at least, and I can do that." Namaka blinked. "Oh, not having to swap to water magic'll probably also help out with the combination stuff I'm trying to do. I've been trying to mix my water techniques with thunder magic. Hit the bad guys with both of 'em at once, yeah? But I don't think I'd be able to handle casting two different types of magic at once."

[6:51 PM] Nerf: "Water with thunder? Hmm, it's an interesting thought. I would not want to get hit by that." This time the surprise in Sally's face was not faked, but a genuine reaction as she considered the unusual idea.

Seems that despite her childish attitude she's still ready to kill some people if needed...

"I will, however, ask you to be careful when trying this. Those two things can be dangerous together, as I'm sure you know. Wouldn't want to see you losing control and hurting yourself during training."

Or hurting you allies during battle, she thought to herself.(edited)

[8:02 PM] Shade: “Hehe...” Namaka’s grin turned sheepish. “Well, I’ve already gotten hurt a little practicing... but just a little! I’ve been careful enough not to let it hit me completely. But, uh, the thunder magic does have some feedback if I don’t control it and the water properly...”

[9:44 PM] Nerf: Remember not to get too close to her in battle...

"I can imagine. It's not exactly what someone that's new to magic would start with. But, if you think you are capable of pulling it off, then by all means, keep trying", she offered Namaka an encouraging smile. "I believe in you."

[11:07 PM] Shade: "Thanks! I should be able to get it down... soon-ish, I think." Namaka blinked as the waiter appeared, holding their dishes. "Ooh, food's ready!"

[12:05 PM] Nerf: "Here is to a lovely meal", Sally held her glass up in the air before diving on her plate. "Now, shall we get started? This looks delicious."

[12:43 PM] Shade: “Let’s!” Namaka dug into her own meal. She was happy to have talked with Sally, but now there was food to eat!
