Namaka shook her hand, scowling at the traitorous appendage. Not that it was really her hand's fault; it's not like it had been the one to decide to try and combine water and Thunder magic.
She knew the idea seemed foolhardy, but it was that exact reason that she wanted to try and do something with it. If lightning (and by virtue of similarity, Thunder magic) was so dangerous when channeled through water, then it would have a similarly dangerous effect on her enemies, right?
The answer was, of course, that Namaka had no idea because she hadn't gotten it working yet. Things were going better than the last time she'd been practicing out on this beach, but she was still more prone to shock herself through the Thunder-charged water than actually get it to stay charged while she attacked. With a huff, she threw herself down onto the wet sand, grumbling.
'Why won't you just woooooork....?'

[3:23 PM] TastyChicken12: Kiera was busy making a sand castle, when she heard thunder roaring nearby.
"Heya, you! Whatcha... whatcha doin'?" she asks while looking at Namaka.
[4:09 PM] Shade: "Huh?" Namaka looked over and saw a woman she didn't recognize. 'Not an Ayzer so... maybe she's a part of our group too?'
Regardless, she had no reason not to share what she was doing. At the very least, Namaka could tell the woman about what she was doing as a warning.
"I'm working on combining lightning and water," she said. "I'm trying to get it so that it just hits what I want, but it's... still a work in progress."
[4:29 PM] TastyChicken12: "Huh. Well, I ain't in the know about anythin' magic. Sorry."
Kiera stood up, dusting off the shorts and tee shirt she was wearing.
[4:31 PM] Shade: "That's fine, that's fine. Wasn't asking for help, just figured I'd let ya know, yeah?"
Just before she started practicing again, Namaka stopped and looked over at the woman sheepishly. "Oh, sorry! Didn't even introduce myself. Name's Namaka, what about you?"

[6:31 PM] Shade: She rolled her eyes. “This again? I had one of the fancy stone things, but Zain said it wasn’t good enough so it’s gone now. Thankfully we had other proof, but I don’t have it on me. If you wanna go check with him, then do it, but I don’t have any proof for ya besides that.”(edited)

[8:12 PM] TastyChicken12: "I was tryin' to make one of them sand castles. But I ain't... well, it just looks like a hill with a another hill surrounding it."
[8:15 PM] Shade: Namaka hummed thoughtfully. "Well, how were you trying to make it? Maybe I can help, yeah?"
[8:15 PM] TastyChicken12: "Sure, sure. I was kind of trying to make it more... square like. Though I'm guessin' physics don't want to cooperate."
[8:17 PM] Shade: "No, I mean like, how wet were you getting the sand?"
[8:18 PM] TastyChicken12: "Not... enough. I reckon," she said, hanging her head in shame.
[8:20 PM] Shade: "Aww, don't feel bad!" Namaka frowned. She hadn't meant to insult Kiera, just figure out what she'd been doing so that Namaka could help. "It's all a matter of experience and figuring things out, that's all. Sometimes too much water can be bad too, so you just gotta try! I can help you find the right mix, and then you can build yourself a nice big sandcastle, yeah?"

[8:30 PM] Shade: "See? There you go! Already looking better than just a few hills, yeah?"
[8:33 PM] TastyChicken12: "Yeah, I reckon so. Say, Nam- Namaka? Where're ya from?"
[8:35 PM] Shade: "You can't tell from the fins?" Namaka teased. She elaborated, telling Kiera, "I'm from Psari, here. Not here here, Maufi's new to me, but it's not that different from the town I grew up in."
[8:36 PM] TastyChicken12: "Oh... sorry. I just don't know where all the... Ayzer? Live? I've heard Beorc and Laguz live all over, though," she says with a grin.
[8:42 PM] Shade: "Yeah, most of us live here in Psari. Never really thought much about why, although I guess it's probably because of how much water we need. Easier to stay where everyone's used to dealing with what we need."(edited)

[10:05 PM] Shade: "Do you mean what type of aquatic life lives in the sea?" Namaka tilted her head curiously.

[10:38 PM] Shade: "Well, that's because-" She stopped mid-sentence, and frowned. "...Actually, I have no idea why we don't. As far as I know, we've just always lived up here, so... tradition, I guess?"
With a shrug, Namaka added, "I'm personally happy enough to live on land. I can't meet people like you and other people if I spent all my time underwater, yeah?"
[10:38 PM] TastyChicken12: "I guess not. My tribe lives pretty far inland, too."
[10:41 PM] Shade: "What's your tribe like? Beorc seem to be kinda different in a lot of places, moreso than other people from what I've seen."
[10:43 PM] TastyChicken12: "Well... I'm from Ramalia. It's mostly lived in by Laguz, but we got a few tribes in the northern parts of the country. Pretty nice of 'em to let us settle there, eh?"
[11:00 PM] Shade: "Ramalia, huh? I guess, although it sounds like it's more that it'd be mean for them to drive you out. Do you just live separate from most of them, or do they treat you guys as a part of Ramalia proper?"
[11:13 PM] TastyChicken12: "Separate, mostly. But back home, there's a tradition for each tribe to send folks on our behalf to talk to the queen herself. Our tribe does that, and it's real awesome!"
[11:15 PM] Shade: "Ooh, that's interesting." Namaka leaned in. "What do you talk to her about? Just what's been going on and stuff, or about trade and stuff? ...Oh, uh, you don't need to tell me any secrets or anything. I'm just curious!" She hastened to assure Kiera.
[11:15 PM] TastyChicken12: "I don't know exactly... I ain't one of the tribe's elders."
[11:16 PM] Shade: Namaka rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly. "Ah, sorry, sorry. I just get excited learning about other people, ya know? Everyone lives differently, and it's neat to learn about all that."

Her mind was racing and thinking rapidly about how she was portraying her nation, and she seemed to become flustered.
[11:25 PM] Shade: Frowning, Namaka noticed how nervous Kiera seemed to be. She reached out to lay a hand on Kiera's shoulder. "Hey, no need to feel pressured. I didn't mean to make you embarassed or anything. If you're worried about asking questions, it can wait, yeah?"
[11:30 PM] TastyChicken12: "No, no! I'm just nervous... 'cause like, ain't we all representatives of our home countries? Like..."
[11:32 PM] Shade: "Really? I guess I don't really think of it that way," Namaka replied with a shrug. "I'm me and I happen to be an Ayzer, and you're you and happen to be from a tribe in Ramalia. I'm not a diplomat or anything, and it's not like every Ayzer's the same, yeah?"
[11:33 PM] TastyChicken12: "Well, nooooo, but what if people get the wrong idea? I kind... I hate it when people are... ah, what's the word? Racist? I ain't ever met someone like that, but I reckon I'd be awful mad meetin' someone who is."
[11:35 PM] Shade: "If someone's like that, just ignore 'em or walk away. I've run into people like that, and they're mostly talk. Besides, rude people like that aren't worth worrying about!"

"I dunno if this is weird to say, but I've had a lot of fun here in Maufi! The food's so good, and the people here are nice, and the beaches are so pretty! And ya got some dang good ale."
