[9:26 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: Himaya and the gang were on march to the village west of those pens and horses from earlier. While Zain took up the lead, Himaya decided it might be best to take up the rear, to protect the back and make sure everything was alright while Zain could focus on leading.
He was thinking to himself how nice it would be once they arrived at this western village. The things he'd buy, the food he could taste, that intel these people had, and best of all, he'd be able to show up that general. He'd show 'im once and for all that no one messes with wolves and their pack. Especially not his own.
He seemed to be lost in thought for a moment while looking towards the ground until he notices a figure out of his upper peripheral start to slow down so as to approach him.
[9:44 PM] TastyChicken12: Kiera looked over to see Himaya. She had wanted to purchase a teddy bear for her son, after seeing one of Percuilli's men possess one.
"Captain Himaya? Is that you?" she asked. Kiera had met Zain earlier, but wasn't really happy with their discussion, as Zain seemed brooding and impatient. Maybe Himaya was different?
[9:49 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Uh huh, sure is! And I dunno about the Captain part, but yknow what? I think I like it!" exclaimed Himaya with a big, proud smile.
"Haha, what's your name? 'fraid I forget it exactly. I only remember it startin' with a 'K'..." Himaya admitted with a shrug and a smile while he hoped she wouldn't take it too personally.(edited)

[10:41 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Right, right! I remember now. I remember thinkin' how your name kinda sounded like the Goddess's if ya switched around some sounds... But that was prolly on purpose, huh?" he asked with a smile
[11:11 PM] TastyChicken12: "I reckon it is, that my parents named me like a human form of Kyria. Or somethin'. So that's probably what my name means."
[11:17 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "That sounds really cool! My Mama always told me that my name meant "protected" in Pallo... Least I'm pretty sure that's what she said... It's been a while haha." he said with a nervous laugh
[11:26 PM] TastyChicken12: "That seems cool n' all, but I ain't able to speak Pallo. Just normal talk... sorry," she said, slightly lamenting in her very limited communication abilities.
[11:30 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Huh? Ain't nothin' t' be sorry 'bout, ya silly goose." He said with a smile.
"Don't beat yaself up for it. There's plenty of time in th' world t' learn some stuff. 'Sides, ya say you don't speak Pallo, but if you can say my name, you at least can speak one word, and that ain't nothin' if ya ask me," Himaya pointed out optimistically.
"So just take it one word at a time. Ya already konw one, don'tcha? Step by step is how I learnt it back in Ramalia, y'know. Even after 30 odd years, I ain't the best at it. So don't worry a lick."
[11:31 PM] TastyChicken12: "You're thirty years old? That's awful strange. You look about my age in Beorc years, but if you're a Laguz, you'd have to be like 80, right?... right?"
[11:36 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Yeah, if I was full-blooded, I'd be around there... I think." Himaya said scratching his head. Mental math usually gave him a bit of trouble.
"I'm only 37, pretty sure, unless I missed some years," he said with a laughing smile, "though bein' a more-than-half-blood knocks off quite a bit of my age, I'd imagine. I'm flattered though. You wouldn't imagine what I'd give to shift like Laguz can!" he said with some excitement in his voice

"You ain't a Laguz at all! You're a Branded! One of 'em folks who's half Beorc an' half Laguz. I don't know if I've met one before, but... wow."

[11:55 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Well not half. My Papa was a Branded, and my Mama was a full-blood Wolf. So I'm somewhere between a half-blood and a full-blood. 'fraid I've never asked my folks the exact percentage. "sides, I look pretty close to Laguz, so I can understand the mistake. It flatters me if anythin'" he said with a smile while he tail begins to wag while he walks
[11:57 PM] TastyChicken12: "Oh, okay, I see where I got confused, as all. Makes me happy, in a weird way, seein' as though our people get along enough to start families like this. I wonder if there were any Branded back home in Manx..."
[4:46 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "It makes me happy too, and I'm sure there were some. Most look like normal people, not like I do. But the thought that my Papa was a Heron Branded makes me happier. Means that it wasn't just some fluke of Ramalia, y'know? If only everyone was mixed-blood, maybe there wouldn't even be all this mess, y'know?"(edited)

"But yeah, I'm an optimist, so I'd like to imagine there'd be peace, but I'm sure there'd always be something stupid to fight over. Hopefully nothing this serious, I'd hope. Anyway," he says as he fixes his gaze back to Kiera, "what d'ya plan t' do when we get t' this western village?"

[7:33 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, buyin' stuff is always fun, I gotta admit. Love me some new goodies!" he said with a smile.
"Anything in particular?" he asked
[7:34 PM] TastyChicken12: "I uh, well, I was wanting to buy a present for someone in my family."
[7:36 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Oh, were ya? That's awfully sweet of ya," he said with a smile. It made him happy that she was still thinking of family back home. It reminded him of his Papa back home in Maulu.
"Y'know, maybe I should send somethin' back home t' my Papa now that you think about it. I'd need to double check how to mail things with Zain though," he admitted a bit embarrassingly.
"How're ya plannin' t' buy for? Your folks?"

I kinda have to admit that I forgot to send anything to my own Papa until ya mentioned your family," he says nervously as he scratches behind his ears(edited)

[7:52 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, you don't gotta sound all tense, friend," he remarked while putting a hand on her shoulder, "Think of me as a friend. Even though I'm friends with the Chief, ya don't gotta act special or nothin' with me. You can tell me anythin' at all. No worries. No problems. No judgements. It's the job of a true optimist!" he says with a smile.
"Though I gotta say it is pretty noble of ya t' go out on this for the good of yer whole village. I can't even say as much," he admitted
[7:59 PM] TastyChicken12: "Oh, I can tell you anything? A-anything at all? Ya mean it, truly?" she said, slightly shaking.
I can't tell him though! He's my commander! What if he sends me home?!
[8:06 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Well yeah! What kinda person would I be t' tell ya that ya couldn't? Y'know, I used t' want t' hide my mixed-blood, and I did from the Pack for a bit at the beginning. I don't think you were there, but it was still hard for me when the truth came out... But everything worked out alright! No.... Better than alright! All my worries were dumb. Everyone accepted me with open arms, so I'd hate to not do that to any of y'all either." he exclaimed with a smile as she squeezed her shoulders a bit endearingly(edited)
[8:08 PM] TastyChicken12: She laughed softly. The sort of shoulder squeezing reminded her of when- when she told her parents that she was pregnant. How, they both were in shock and sadness, but eventually calmed down and lovingly embraced their daughter.
"Okay, well, I'm... I'm... I have a son. He's my flesh and blood, Himaya."
He doesn't know I'm 18, right...?
[8:23 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Ohhh really? I could practically smell you were hidin' somethin' but a kid?" Himaya said as he stopped walking for a moment.
He bent over, hands on his knees, and looked to the ground, seemingly to think more about what she had just said. He was in shock.(edited)

"K-Kid?!... nah, I misspoke, I reckon I meant 'mum'! I ain't good at gettin' my thoughts out! I wanted to send a gift to my mom!"
[8:34 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "You can't go back on what you said..." Himaya said in a strange tone, he was deep in thought it seemed.
But then it clicked!
"Ohhhhhh wait... Nowwwwww I get remember... Beorc can have kids a lotttt earlier than Branded and Laguz can! They reach maturity faster!"
Apparently, he was just stopping for some deep concentration to do some mental math!
"Kinda forgot that was a possibility! A Branded your age wouldn't be able to have any, I was just confused for a sec there!" he said as he looked back up, a bit embarrassed with himself.
His tail began to wag very very fast as he got excited and practically jumped onto her in a hug.
"Why didn'tcha tell me sooner?! Kids are so excitin'!! Congrats!!" he said with a big, toothy grin. "How old is he? What's his favorite food? What's he look like? Does he like to play?" Himaya said, bombarding her with question out of pure excitement(edited)

She was taking by a very serious surprise from all the congratulating and hugging. While certainly she had experienced some of that when relatives and some other Manx villagers found out, others had faces of scorn and disapproval of Kiera over it. This was by far the most ecstatic response she had come across. It became clear to the Beorc that Himaya wasn't an ordinary man.
"Um, I didn't tell ya because I thought you'd be furious with me! Tell me I'm stupid!" she defended with some frustration, as if to say, Wow, why aren't you normal and looking at me with judgement and hatred?
[9:49 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Why would I do that for? Kids are great! Do you know how much fun I'd always have playing with the pups in my village?!" He asked enthusiastically
"What's the kid's name? C'mon, out with it!" he exclaimed with a smile, his tail still wagging(edited)
[9:52 PM] TastyChicken12: "Casey Brennan's my son's name," she answers, still weirded out by this whole situation.

"What's the inspiration with it? We already talked about our own."
[9:55 PM] TastyChicken12: "I just liked the name, 'Casey', and he took my family name."
[10:00 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, I can't quite say the same about my parents when they chose my name. Though, I can't say much anyway, I wasn't really out in the world when they talked about it haha" he said with a light hearted laugh.
"I guess we should start walking again, huh? Don't wanna fall too far behind! For being the rear person trying to catch the stragglers, we've become the stragglers themselves!"

"So... now that we got that all cleared up. What were you plannin' on buyin' Casey?" he asked(edited)

I think it should be the same one I bought not too long ago. But mostly just for some nostalgia. I tore my old one up when I was playing with some pups. But it might serve you better." he said with a smile

[11:09 AM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "I ain't much 'sides a weird Beorc," Himaya commented, "even if I help Zain with things, I still see everyone as equals. So don't think I'm anythin' special or nuthin'. It's fine, I'd rather Casey have it than me. I'm not a pup anymore," he added with an excited smile, his tail still wagging
[11:56 AM] TastyChicken12: "I think he's gonna love it! I just, er, picture Mom and Dad giving him this toy and sayin' to him, 'Look, Mama send you this! She loves you!' and him huggin' it for weeks- maybe years on end. I think that'd be awesome...."
Kiera pauses and pulls down her tee shirt.
"I wonder... he's gotta miss me terribly..."(edited)
[12:07 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "As long you don't die or anythin' stupid, it'll be a shorter wait than with my folks. And even if it's just as long... He'll still love you all the same n' just as much!" He reassured her with a pat on the back.
"But now that you're part o' th' Pack, you don't got nuthin' t' worry 'bout. We'll protect ya with all we got. It's what a pack does"
[12:13 PM] TastyChicken12: "I'll protect ya, as well. I want to see you reunite with your parents," she said. Afterwards, she looked to the side and muttered a few things silently.
"Say, Himaya? Where in Ramalia are ya from?"
[12:44 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Thanks," he sits out, "ya sure you're not a wolf? Sure got that loyal spirit!"
"N' I'm from... Well 'fraid I forget the name of my original village I was born in. It was my Mama's village. When they had to leave, they took me to Zain's village to live with a friend of their's. That's how I ended up in Maulu with my adoptive wolf Papa, Jhidiyo. So that's usually where I tell people, since it's easier. Been there since I still was a wee pup, about 7 years old. But I figured you'd find it interesting. Maulu's quite a bit South from.... Where'd ya you're from? That northern border village.... Minks?"
[12:49 PM] TastyChicken12: "It's Manx, close enough," she laughed, "Does your village partake in the whole... well, it's that tradition where Queen Malika meets with all the tribes' leaders."

"Yeah Zain is pretty close to Malika, actually," he explains.
[1:49 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "He's probably a better person t' ask. That's about all I really know, honestly" he adds with a shrug
[1:50 PM] TastyChicken12: "I'll ask him when I get the chance, then. All I remember is that some of Manx's elders would leave for a few weeks to head down to that important meetin'."
[2:07 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Oh is that so? I wonder if they're Branded by chance..." Himaya said with a thinking face, though this time he didn't have to stop walking.
"Malika values Wolves above Beorc as far as I know. So I guess Branded would suit her better than just Beorc... I don't quite understand that, but she must get reasons. I'm not the Queen..."
[2:24 PM] TastyChicken12: "What? That can't be right. The elders always told us that the queen treated them quite good!"
[2:32 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Oh well I never said she wouldn't treat them well enough. Just saying more personal experiences, I s'pose. Despite that, I'd still fight for my Queen, absolutely." He says as he pounded his chest, "it's a wolf's pride"
[10:55 PM] TastyChicken12: "I see. Wonder if I'll ever meet the queen sometime... but yeah, I still wanna do what's best for my family. Including fighting in this here unit," she said with a salute and a laugh.
[1:57 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Well, I'm course ya do! Family means a lot t' me too, so I understand. No kids or nuthin' yet, but I'd imagine pretty much the same thing if I were in your shoes... Though I probably wouldn't like it much. I don't fancy shoes in the first place," he says with a more playful tone.
[7:34 PM] TastyChicken12: "Ah. I see. Yeah, all this is just for my tribe and my family. Without that, I'd have stayed home with my son. But the local economy's just been real awful in my part of the country."
[11:35 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "So... if you had enough money, would you go back home?" Himaya asked simply, a bit unlike him. He seemed to be thinking about something.
[11:35 PM] TastyChicken12: "... I think I would. You, you don't get it. My son needs his mama."
[11:38 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "..." Himaya was in thought a bit.
"How big a pile o' Leafs d'ya need? I'd gladly empty my pockets for ya. I'd hate for the cub to be without 'is Mama any longer than need be after all... It's not like money is really a factor for seein' mine or anything. I'd... rather y'all be happy," he said a smile, yet his tail hung low, still.
[11:41 PM] TastyChicken12: "I ain't sure. It all depends on when the drought end and our mercenaries head back home, and... well, I might need close to two years or so of money for 4 people. I ain't just payin' for myself and Casey, I gotta help my parents out. Notice how I send mosta my pay home, right away?... rest of it for beer and clothes..."
[4:04 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Ah, sounds like it wouldn't do ya much good then," he says with a solemn nod.
"Bright side, guess that means we get to keep havin' this adventure n' stuff with ya," he says with a smile, a slight wag to his tail.
"I feel bad for feeling happy about you not leavin' just yet, t' be honest with ya, but... I promise to help make this time here as worth it as possible. Any family of the Pack is part o' the Pack in my book. I'll protect 'em and help 'em all the same," he explained
[4:37 PM] TastyChicken12: "Okay, it sounds good. I reckon I'll learn a lot out here with you all. Seein' the world."
[4:44 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "So do ya ever write any letters or anythin' like that? I know you send money, but you've not mentioned 'em. I probably should get around to writin' something up m'self..."
[4:48 PM] TastyChicken12: "Uh... well, I don't write home. Just... the money..."
[4:49 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Hmm? Why's 'at?" he asked, "I'm sure they'd wanna hear from ya... I mean I'm not the best person to talk about that, seein' that I haven't wrote anythin' neither, but I've just forgotten. Feel like ya woulda said it differently if that was the same case, yknow? So what's up?"
[4:51 PM] TastyChicken12: "I... well, I can't write at all. Or read. I know my name and my son's name, but nothin' else."
[4:59 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Hmm? Not even Millo? I can't say much 'bout Pallo, since I only speak it... well not great -- but I'm still learning, promise! I can read it and understand it well enough, but can't really write it down any at all. It's a hard tongue to learn, for sure. Though my Dad taught a lot of what I know about Millo. Wasn't th' most formal or nuthin' but I can write well enough. Nuthin' fancy. I'm sure I could help ya sometime. Wouldn't be too hard t' write for ya," he offered with a smile. He didn't judge, but tried to view it as something he could empathize with a little.
"...though," he said with a more thinking face, "I'd need help actually makin' it mail-able. I can write, but I gotta be honest: I have no clue how to mail it or nuthin'." he admitted a bit embarrassed.
[5:00 PM] TastyChicken12: "Can't even write in... normal talk. But uh, I think I might ask someone else to help me, if that's alright..."
[5:02 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, no shame in that!" he said almost a bit relieved, "I ain't th' best with writing all nice n' neat anyhow! Surely you could find someone better in that."
[5:05 PM] TastyChicken12: "W-whatcha mean 'no shame in that'? It's awful not bein' able to write! And I don't want Casey to be illiterate either! I wanna... I wanna be able to read to him stories and watch him doodle and write, maybe one day become a bard, or an author. Just somethin'."
[5:08 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, I meanin' 'bout me not being the writer for ya haha," he gently corrected with a laugh, "It ain't easy not bein' the best with in some tongue, I'd know. Remember: I can't write in Pallo any. But I'm still learnin'! Zain tries to help me whenever he can. There's no shame in not havin' it all perfect yet, though. Ain't no one too old t' learn a tongue. Just takes time and practice," he reassured her with a smile.
"Maybe one day I could learn some other tongue... Dunno what other ones exist, but it'd be neat t' find out!"

[6:01 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "I'd sure hope so!" he said with a smile, "There's plenty of people here that'd gladly show ya how, I'm sure. I probably ain't the best, but I'm here for some support if ya ever need any!" he reassured her
[6:12 PM] TastyChicken12: "Okay, thank you," she said, realizing fully how understanding Himaya was. It never seemed to matter what she told to Himaya, he seemed to enjoy all of it. Her being a young mother. Her being illiterate. Her being from an irrelevant tribe within their kingdom. That made Kiera happy, if a bit weirded out.
"I reckon Suleiman can write real good. Ain't priestly types really good writers? They certainly seem to got a lot of books."
[10:44 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "I mean I'd say that sounds about right. Gotta read the holy books to truly understand Kyria, y'know? I mean I guess you could learn more by just listening to someone tell you what's in the book and not lose much though," he said in an attempt to make her not feel as guilty for her reading ability.
"But our priestly dudes we have both seem to be lost in their books all the time. Heck, even some of the not-priest dudes do too. Some of the magic people just in general seem to like readin' if ya ask me. Guess ya gotta be good at readin' t' be good with magic stuffs. Though even though my shiny fang can be magical sometimes, that don't mean I'm great at readin' those hard books neither! So I guess I don't gotta clue if it means anythin' at all! Prolly just a coincedence..."
[10:59 PM] TastyChicken12: "Mages, right, right. It gets me curious about what is in them darned things, why it's so secretive that you gotta go to school for it."
[12:49 AM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, whenever I've looked in one, it just looked like scribbles t' me. But if they can read it and now what they're doin', more power to 'em, is what I say!"

Why is it that only Himaya and I struggle how to read? Is... yeah, the elder who taught me was pretty bad...

[7:51 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Heh, excited are we?" he asked playfully with the swish of a tail, "Don't worry, we just gotta get it from the Convoy. I gave it to 'em for safe keepin'! C'mon, let's go. I'll formally introduce ya!" he said with a smile and he ran forward.

This is for you, Casey. Mama might not be able to write, but she can send her love somehow else...
[8:17 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: He watched her hug the bear with delight and he smiled a huge grin, tail wagging like crazy now.
"Hope the li'l cub enjoys it!" he stated with a smile.
"y-you said your nephew, r-right?" he asked a bit sheepishly to cover it up politely, "yeah, let's go get it all wrapped n' ready t' go! You can put a letter on there later.
He was happy that he could make her happy, even more so for her own family. The thought of a happy and giggling little kid warmed his heart.
[8:20 PM] TastyChicken12: Kiera blinked a few times, not sure what Himaya was talking about.
"S-sure," she said, nervously chuckling.
[8:22 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: "Sounds like it's all settled, then! I'm happy t' help ya," he said with a casual salute, a smile still plastered over his face.
"it's nice gettin' t' know ya better, at least, y'know?"
[8:24 PM] TastyChicken12: "Yeah, yeah! Good talkin' with ya, Captain Himaya!"
[8:48 PM] Best Birb (Yune) | Sky: Himaya nods and gives another casual salute before being on his way.
He chuckled to himself about how happy that kid's gonna be.
