"New Horizons & Helping Hands"

Cast: Lucifel (Dea) & Relgia (Eye)

TLDR: After watching Lucifel's pitiful excuse for tussling with a wooden dummy, Relgia shows him how it's done. He picks up on the proper technique rather quickly, and tires himself. Proudly and a little bashfully, Relgia compliments him on his new form and offers to grab a bit to eat. He gladly accepts.

[11:36 PM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: Lucifel had to admit, it was pretty bad. His physique, that is to say. He was currently engaging a rather immobile training dummy in one of Nicousa's less ramshackle training grounds, and within minutes he found himself sweating and out of breath. The young businessman steadied himself, and rushed in for another barrage of punches that would be hard-pressed to knock over a small child. The undercover Ingwaz had swapped out his ever-present suit for a light white shirt with the top few buttons open, and a pair of dress slacks. By far the optimal clothing for training in, but unfortunately it was the best he had. His bright red hair and eyes stood out starkly from the packed brown dirt of the court. Lucifel's face, however, was contorted into a narrow-eyed grimace as he failed to even budge the straw dummy. He exasperatedly looked down at his fists, which were already starting to show wear from the impacts. "Lovely." he murmured discontentedly. "At this rate, by the time I can throw a simple punch, the expedition will be over."

[12:02 AM] EyePierce: Relgia swung her blunted axe backhanded, crouching low as she slapping her dummy's helmet from the head then punching upward with her second axe, slicing through the hay groin of her partner until the weapon cracked against the wooden skeleton. It was a delightful change of pace to be able to hit something and not mind if the object splintered under the weight of her blows. Cap'n hadn't taken kindly the time she used the foremast as a target. She gave the barefaced dummy a playful pat as some more hay fell from it's groin like innards, venting a haze of sparks and raw heat harmlessly into the sky. Maybe it'd be best to leave the rest intact. Relgia certainly didn't want to get blamed for making this one into kindling. Prematurely done, she began to walk back to deposit her blunt instruments, when she noticed one of the men from the meet and greet held earlier. Lu... luceforl? She hadn't really paid much mind to the chap, but here he was. Giving his all against an embarrassingly unphased foe. She paused, glanced down at her weapons, then dropped them to the floor, moving forward to meet the man. Someone'd deal with them up afterwards. Moving in front of the man, though a little off to the side of the target, Relgia waved a backhand. "Eh, sorry if I'm interuptin' but I'm from the expedition. You might'a seen me around? Relgia's the name."(edited)
[12:34 AM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: Lucifel looked up suddenly as a shadow fell over him. For a second, his flight-or-fight instincts kicked in, but then she spoke out to him in a friendly tone. "Waaa- oh, uhm. Hello. The name's Lucifel. I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you before." He held out his hand tentatively. The criminal was suddenly struck by how much more physically imposing Relgia was in comparison to himself. Sure, he wasn't exactly short, but she easily dwarfed him in both height and build. As Lucifel stood with his palm out, he couldn't help but imagine the pirate easily crushing his frail hand within her own. All the more reason to become fit sooner rather than later. he grumbled inwardly. "And if I'm not mistaken, you're a member of the expedition as well." Lucifel replied, his face displaying mild interest in stark contrast to the mix of fear and embarrassment he was currently experiencing. "Please, allow me to thank you for a job well done protecting the World Tree from those arsonists."
[1:31 AM] EyePierce: "Right! The lot o' us really roasted those fire priggers good. Didn't even have time ta cut an' run." Clasping Lucifel's outstretched hand with one of her own, Relgia patted the man's opposite shoulder. The fight had been liberating, and her face shone at the compliment. Most of the time when her ship was raided the fighting was reduced to blowing a firey hole in the pirate's boat and then trimming the sails, leaving them to whatever fate the sea had in store. This time though, she had got the chance to end the group of cutthroats for good. Though now that she thought on it, she couldn't recall seeing Lucifel on the battlefield. "You more o' the blasty-type? Didn't see you up in tha thick of it, an' I won't flam ya now, you look a lot more hosed than your mate here." Relgia gestured back towards the training dummy.
[8:39 AM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: Lucifel chuckled awkwardly. "I'm afraid I'm not particularly good at combat magic either, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, I'm a decent enough mage- But I've never been particularly good at utilizing offensive spells." He demonstrated by sweeping an arm is a broad gesture towards the straw dummy experimentally. A few sparks flashed in the air before quickly extinguishing. The businessman let out a short sigh. "When I joined this mission, I was under the impression they would mostly need experienced investigators to solve the mystery quickly. Little did I know that we'd be randomly pulled aside to help quell a rebellion here." Lucifel gestured to the unmarred combat dummy before the two of them. "And since it now appears that combat will be the norm from here on out, I figured it would be a good idea to put a bit of muscle on these bones. As you just saw, it was going... less than optimally." The young criminal flashed her a wry smile. "But with the recent turn of events, it looks like you've got your work cut out for you, at least."(edited)

[3:28 PM] EyePierce: "Well with these rantallions ya gotta be able to muscle them around. Been tusselin' all my life, so 's not a Finding them on the other hand, 's a bit outta my league." The large woman shrugged her shoulders though her smile as she did. It was always nice to be appreciated. That being said, maybe she could give the man a boost. "The sea might be a bit choppier than ya thought, but we all need a bloke ta figure out which way we outta go." Relgia then gave a friendly jab at the man's arm, thrusting a finger back at the training dummy. "Plus, look at'cha! You know what you want and you're workin' on it! Yer not some old fussock avoidin' what 'e can't do. Tell ya what. I'ma big ball o' muscle sure, but if you want ta improve I could give ya some tips."

[10:28 PM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: Her playful jab sent the thin man stumbling a step before he managed to regain his balance. Not that he seemed particularly bothered, though. Rather, he seemed to be contemplating Relgia's words. "Is that... so." he replied thoughtfully. "You know, I just might take you up on your offer." Lucifel smiled solemnly. "It'll certainly be more productive to attempt any progress on my own. So then, how would you recommend I proceed?" He faced the dummy once again and held his fists out warily.
[11:54 PM] EyePierce: "Eugh." A hand went over the woman's face theatrically, though the grin didn't quite leave her face. "Right, so that's plain wrong. When ya wanna deck a man 'cross the face you gotta get your body lower." Demonstrating, Relgia shrunk a few inches as her stance lowered. "Af'erwards, when ya wanna do a jab, curl the thumb on the ou'side of yer hand, then surge ahead, with yer whole body behind th' blow." Her left foot took a step forward as she swung her right primary hand out, letting out a small breath of air as her body rose to follow her arm. She gave a satisfied huff, but proceeded to punch a few more times, alternating left and right to show how she thrust her weight behind each blow. "That bein' said, a punch ain't gonna do much good ta someone bigger than ya, cause we got longer arms an' heavier bodies. If the bloke yer hittin' sees ya wind up, it's gonna end up in scrap. Th' longer yer inna scuffle, the more time th' other guy has to wipe the deck with ya. If yer not used to brawlin' it's not the best way ta break a man."

[3:59 PM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: Lucifel's eyes looked her up and down as she demonstrated her technique." "Understood." he replied curtly, dropping into a stance identical to hers. 'Identical' wasn't an understatement, either. He mimicked her form perfectly, all the way down to the timing of his breathing. It was somewhat uncanny. Stepping forward, he launched a solid blow at the dummy. It didn't budge it as much as Relgia's hit had, but it was undoubtedly significantly stronger than anything he had performed earlier. After letting out a huff of breath, he fired off another barrage. After the display, he stepped back, panting lightly. "Huh." he replied between breaths. "Not... half bad. You're quite the teacher, Miss Relgia."

[11:42 AM] EyePierce: "Ah, that's nothin'." Relgia rubbed the back of her neck, a bit bashful. "Once ya take ta tusselin' ya just figure out what works. I'm more impressed ya picked up on that so quick. Yer a natural." It was gratifying to be able to help the man, and his blows were already vastly improved. Still, knowing the correct form was the easier half of the trick, and Relgia straightened her face to show how serious this last bit was. "Now if ya really wanna get better yer gonna have to work on it. Every day, a little bit at a time. Do a bunch o' punches when no ones watchin'. Lift somethin' heavier than a book or quill. Build some proper muscle. Knowin' how to punch is well an' good, but it doesn't matter much if ya can't bloody the bloke's nose in the first place. In the meantime if ya get inta trouble, try kickin' out the enemy's kneecap or jabbin' a finger in their eyes if ya get the chance. Both o' those could end a fight before it starts and if not, it'll buy time for some fella to come lend ya a hand. Yer not invincible after ya just learned ta punch straight."(edited)
[9:08 PM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: "Jabbing a finger in t-their eye?" he looked down at his hand as if imagining the prospect. "Thanks for the advice, but I'm not sure I'll be able to resort to such means just yet." Lucifel shuddered lightly. "But I agree, practice is the key to success. I'll be sure to hone my talents over the next few weeks. And who knows, eventually I might even e able to defeat you in combat!" He grinned triumphantly, before throwing a series of punches n succession at the dummy once again. For whatever reason, they paled in comparison to the skill he had demonstrated just seconds earlier. Sure, some of the form still remaining, but it was a bare emulation of Relgia's earlier barrage. "...I fear that day is far away."

[11:13 AM] EyePierce: Letting out a fair amount of chortling at his limp claim, Relgia grinned all the same. "Well it's great ta have goals. I'd be more than happy to test you out when you get there." Playfully bop-ing the bottom of her fist on top of Lucifel's shoulder, the sailor then took a step back, intent on continuing her day. His last barrage was off but he had felt what it was like to punch properly, and to correct him at this point would be overbearing and a little obstructive. Not to mention while it was fun to teach a man how to inflict violence she wasn't prepared to baby him for the next few weeks until he could kick ass all by his lonesome. If the short-sighted woman tried, then the added stress would inevitably lead to something burning down. "I'm gonna head out an' grab a bite to eat. You in the mood, or do ya wanna keep goin' at it?"

[8:02 PM] Deallocate | Defying Gravity: "You know..." he said ponderously. "I think I'd appreciate that very much." "Please, allow me to treat." Lucifer replied, leading the way out of the arena. "It's the least I can do after offering to help train me..."
