"A Change in Perspective"

Cast: Daniel (Turtleye) & Seed (Deme)

TLDR: After looking for a treat for Florian, Daniel and Seed begin to converse. After offering dandelion greens, and Daniel questioning them as they can give Florian a tummy ache, Seed mentions that cooking them could help mend the issue. After then discussing other things like flight and their occupations, Daniel leaves after remembering that Florian must be waiting for the treat.

[6:17 PM] Turtleye: "There we go, all groomed up", Daniël said to Florian, putting away his brush. "I'll go grab something for you to eat allright? Don't worry, I'll be right back." He walked out of the stables and headed towards the mess hall to see if they had any leftover vegetables or fruits.
[6:39 PM] LadyDeme: Seed had been idly browsing through the mess-hall's fruit basket himself, trying to decide if anything looked particularly tasty. He turned over an apple in his hands, the gloss catching the light and bouncing back a yellow and red tinged distortion of his own face. It hardly seemed worth the fruit. He knew there were things he rather should have been doing, given this opportunity. But instead he sighed, and put the apple down, and began to head towards the mess hall doors, just in time to be faced directly with Daniël's entrance. He stepped briefly right, before settling left. "Sorry." It was a strange time to be eating, though, and so felt compelled to ask... "Coming in for a, oh, this would be a sort of late lunch, perhaps?"
[7:12 PM] Turtleye: Walking into the mess hall, he noticed that Seed was just about to leave the room. "Oh, hey there Seed," Daniël said. "A late lunch, you say? No, I've already eaten a little while ago. I just finished up grooming Florian and am just coming to the mess hall here to see if there are any leftovers from lunch I could give him. He's not a big fan of hay, although he'll usually eat anything edible if he's hungry. But Florian aside, did you perhaps come in here for a late lunch?"(edited)
[8:48 PM] LadyDeme: "Florian's your pegasus, right?" Seed asked, thinking of the mount he'd taken a brief ride on during the battle before? While his eyes still had a downcast, his lashes running across the golden ring atop his iris forming a dark forest, blocking the sun in streaks, the rest of his face could not afford not to have perked up into a temperate, mellow smile. "Not exactly... I suppose." The vague answer, however, was not very reflective of what he tried to project. "Perhaps it'd be better to think of it as a sort of snack. Some of the apples looked nice for Florian, though we've got a sizable range of fruit..." He considered something, with his eyes flicked upward; but no, the season wasn't right. His blooms for this period of time were ebbing, but the hips hadn't thickened into sweet, wine-dark berries just yet. Perhaps another time, then. He looked down at his bad arm: the hollow was mostly hidden, save for its filler, a soft bed of fluffy moss, where he had a few scattered plants growing, and a small fern unfolding, and one thing with a few spiky leaves. As if to explain his thought, he gestured to it. "How does he feel about dandelion greens?"(edited)

[8:15 AM] Turtleye: "Yep, he is. I have been travelling with him for about 8 years now, ever since I acquired my position as a representative of Niciri." "As for the dandelion greens, Florian really likes them but I've been trying to prevent him from eating too much of them. I don't exactly know why, but Florian seems to not be able to eat a lot fo them. Perhaps he is allergic to them, but I still haven't figured it out. But a small amount should be fine." Daniël took a closer look at Seed and noticed that there were actually some dandelions growing on Seed. Aha, that's why he asked. "Would you maybe know why Florian can't handle them that well?"
[2:11 PM] LadyDeme: "Hmmm... Well, allergies are most common from a plant's pollen, so it might be a matter of if the dandelions in question have been in bloom recently, since a pollen allergy certainly could be possible. On the other hand, does he normally have trouble with other bitter greens?" He didn't know much about pegasi in particular, so trying to figure out what might be relevant caused his brow to furrow, and his eyes to become somewhat restless, tilting his head in response to the ebb and flow of his sentiment -- to one side, and then the other, in line with his purposes. Dandelions did tend to grow in rough places, which weren't very clear, but it this were reoccuring, that'd be harder to judge. Dandelions mostly weren't a problem, but they could be very bitter...
[4:58 PM] Turtleye: "Uh, lets see... He doesn't have any problems with clovers or chicory. Kale is a bit problematic, although less so than the dandelions. Those are about the only bitter greens I recall him eating. He's usually munching on some grass, vegetables or flowers." Daniël said. I really should've paid more attention to his he thought to himself. "I really should keep better track of what he eats. I do depend a lot on Florian after all"

[12:32 AM] LadyDeme: "Hmm... Well, if it's bitterness, and you have the time, perhaps cooking it down might help? He might have a delicate stomach when it comes to this, I know some people do... I'm sorry I can't be much more help." He wasn't sure something that only could eat greens didn't have the digestion for bitter greens, but Seed had a loose understanding of digestive obstacles as it was; his was mostly irrelevant... But all the same, he sighed sincerely, digging it up from as if from the floorboards. He wasn't much help, which brought back his old mood. But he kept talking, kept sort of sweeping it under the rug. He lowered his nursery arm. "Still, I think I'll have to consider a different way of thanking him for the ride the other day. It was... Inspiring, I suppose. Usually, the only part of me taken to the clouds is my mind. The fruitbasket had an apple or so, in the meanwhile."
[8:56 AM] Turtleye: "I guess I can try cooking it and see if that helps any. Thanks for the help anyway" Hm, a Florkana enjoying a ride through the skies. Who would've guessed, most Florkana I've met felt quite uncomfortable about the thought of taking a ride in the sky. Daniël thought. He was happy that Seed felt allright with it, though. "I'm glad you enjoyed that little ride, given the hectic circumstances. Being able to take to the skies is definitely something I really enjoy. It's like an entirely different world up there, even though you can still see the earth below you. It's quite calming, really, and a stark contrast with my job, too. I often go and take a ride to just clear my head . Politics can get quite... heated, especially with the plethora of different political systems present in Laqueos. It really helps to have a way to think about stuff in a quiet place."
[10:06 AM] LadyDeme: He considered apologizing for the gaps again. There was nothing toxic in the dandelion, so there was little else he could say about what amid its properties might disturb the beast. "Yes, I can see where it would. The positions one knows from below are dwindled; the obstacles shrunk to the size of toys, the loom and shield of the trees shown as frail as bubbles on the surface of the sea, as you are cast among the froth and blue expanse... Something like that, anyway. I suppose I'm rather prone to getting bogged down where I am, so it was a nice switch in perspective." He ended it in an ordinary sort of voice, but for the moment there, as he'd allowed his voice to carry him forward as effortlessly as a pegasus' wings, he'd gotten a dreamy, contented look to his face, a glowing, growing rhythm to his cadence that seemed somehow otherworldly; his whole expression had relaxed. "I can imagine; I've plied my trade for a few officials and nobles, and I've seen how uneasy the ship of state can sail, how close it comes to ramming into others at times. What exactly is it you do as a representitive -- is that diplomatic, or military? If it's not too much to ask," He added in something of a hurry, trying to cover up if he'd overstepped his bounds. Save for perhaps situations like the one they were in, 'representitive' sounded a little too abstract for him to wholly decide the nature of Daniel's career.
[11:13 AM] Turtleye: "That's a rather poetic way to put it." Daniël said. "It's indeed a nice switch in perspective, both literally and figuratively" A change of perspective. I like how that sounds. Daniël remarked to himself. "My role as a representative is mainly diplomatic. I've had a rather unsuccesful history in the military, and there are a couple of other Nicirian diplomats that have a much better knowledge about the military games than I do. My main job is to keep Niciri's economic and political relations with the other countries healthy -- or at least, I attempt to do so. Some countries can be rather, how would I put it..." Daniël lowered his voice a little "uncooperative when it comes to finding an agreement. Rettati and it's Symvoulvio in particular."
[2:23 PM] LadyDeme: "Thank you, I try. (it might be worth playing with, later,)" he mumbled after graciously trying to accept the compliment; they were hardly carefully-curated words, but there was a spark there. He would toy something more distinct there. "I see..." Seed nodded glumly. "I can certainly see from my own experiences why that might be trying...It's a very important job, though, so I hope the rest of it is less tiresome than trying to navigate things amid Retatti's upper class. Though... This mission, I don't think, will get easier."(edited)
[3:28 PM] Turtleye: "Oh most of the time there's not a whole lot of trouble. Even though how they act, every nation tries to keep its economy stable and functioning, in the end. It's only when it comes to the less economically focused things like prisoners or the like, that it will be really difficult to make a compromise." Daniël furrowed his brow. "My status as a diplomat is also why Niciri has sent me to join this expedtion. It's really rare for someone to attempt to attack the Arbor Aurelius, and because the attackers where unindentified except for the fact that they were Beorc, eventually rumors will start spreading and fingers will be pointed at others. I'm in charge of gathering any information I can and to relay that through to the Nicirian government, so we can properly leave this thing behind us with - hopefully - not too much damage done to the countries' relations once it's over."

[10:11 AM] LadyDeme: "That's certainly true; even if people can be stubborn or have their own versions of things, they'd mostly like things to go well for their lives, and businesses, and nations," he hadn't meant it was dramatic -- just that, as Daniel said, at times the inner circle was... uncooperative. If they could gather more for less, why wouldn't they? That, and the degree of secrecy. "I thought it'd be something like that. It seems like a long road ahead, given what happened on the island...Though I can't say I felt like it was the work of a nation as such, though that might be a lingering suspician... Florian will probably be tasked with flying over a lot of difficult scenarios."(edited)
[4:06 PM] Turtleye: "Well, I dont believe it's the work of one nation either. But, unfortunately, there are people that will believe rumors about a certain nation being the culprit of this entire attack. For example, you've probably noticed that we fought Chamrosh knights during our battle back at the Money Tree. Because Niciri is the only country in Laqueos that has sucessfully managed to tame Chamrosh knights, I fear that eventually, should it become known that there were Chamrosh present during the battle, people will start pointing fingers towards Niciri. The fact that the attackers were all either Beorc or Branded as far as we know only strengthens this fact. Of course it's more likely that the ones behind the attack bought the tamed Chamrosh from somewhere, but that's not what some people want to believe." "But yes, like I anticipated, the initial attack on Arbor Aurelius wasn't the first one and it looks like there's quite a big organization behind it so I doubt we'll be done anytime soon. But, Florian can handle it, I'm sure of it. We've been in other dire situations before, and although not unscathed, we've managed to avoid getting seriously injured. I might want to look into getting him some sort of armor or other form of protection, especially for his wings."(edited)

[11:06 AM] LadyDeme: "That's true enough," Seed said: there were all sorts of reasons to be suspicious, some of which had even managed to spur him onward... But he held them to individuals, not nations. Of course, the point about Niciri was a good one, and he supposed, with something of a sad smile, that they might have to go back there to investigate. "Armoring a pegasus's wings seems like it'd be tricky -- while I'm sure he could manage the weight, it seems like it'd interfere with the aerodynamics of his wings; perhaps an avian laguz might know of something, if your own contacts aren't prepared for it... Oh, but you'd come here to get something, correct? We shouldn't just stand here talking," Seed said, ushering towards the stocks where a few things were still laid out -- mostly breads and fruits, which needed little watching compared to other dishes. Rather than being prepared for lunch, the mess hall seemed more ready to offer up snacks for its patrons.
[3:19 PM] Turtleye: "Yeah, so far I haven't felt the need to get Florian any form of protection as he's usually agile enough to avoid harm -- but he did take a beating in the last fight and I'm a bit worried about that." Daniël said. "I should probably ask Cabaletto if he knows anything." I wonder why I've never considered getting Florian some form of protection. I guess the thought of him getting badly injured never crossed my mind. Daniël thought to himself. "Oh right, ofcourse, I headed here in the first place to get something for Florian!" Daniël walked over to the stocks, and after a moment, he picked up an apple and a few carrots. He turned back to Seed. "It was a pleasure talking to you. Be seeing you!" Daniël waved his hand before turning towards the entrance and heading towards the stables(edited)
[8:43 PM] LadyDeme: "Good luck," Seed said, waving the pegasus rider off into the distance. He sighed, just faintly, to himself, relaxing a little without a guard to keep up, and drifted languidly out the door, without a destination in mind.
[8:43 PM] LadyDeme: === RP End ===
