[7:19 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: Surely this shouldn't be this difficult. The black-haired figure stared down at the mess of fabric and rope laid out on the ground before him in frustration. A thick branch protruded from the dirt - presumably the back prop for the tent - but its companion was lost amongst the tangle where it had fallen just moments before. I thought I planted it far deeper than it needed to be.
For the third time that afternoon, Cabaletto shoved the pile of fabric aside and set about replanting the forward post. His pale fingers were brown with dirt as he swept the loose earth back into its hole and began to repack it. An earthworm slithered between his hands back into the ground, startled by its unwelcome exposure to the sun. If only I could sleep so easily in the ground; I wouldn't have to bother with this cursed tent!
[7:32 PM] Bork Master | Ris: Miranda wandered in from her secluded spot she had found to take a quick midday nap. It feels so much better to be on solid land, that boat really gave me the sickys. Her soft red ears peeled back as she scanned the newly found island the group had set upon that morning. It felt strange to be away from home, but discovering new places really made her heart soar.
As she continued inland, she spoted what seemed to be a very frustrated member of The Pack. Perhaps setting up his home away from home to get his own nap on this fine day. "Hey friend! I don't think we've met yet, I'm Miranda and it looks like you might need some assistance!" Her tail wagged excitedly as she looked on the birdish figure.
[7:53 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: The Heron's keen hearing had picked up on every footstep of Miranda's approach, but even so he was surprised when she addressed him. Wiping the dirt from his hands on one tail of his red sash, he rose from his squatting position and turned around to face her.
"Greetings, Miranda. Mine name is Cabaletto the Courageous, of the Isle of White. Tis a pleasure to make thy acquaintance." He bowed gently in greeting. "'Twould be much appreciated if you could lend me thy hand in setting up this tent. Tis a foul, disobedient thing and I am having little success." In emphasis, he nudged the downed pole with the tip of his boot.(edited)
[8:03 PM] Bork Master | Ris: She physically seemed to jump a bit at the opportunity to give someone a little bit of help. Oh boy, I can be useful! She came bounding next to the Heron and inspected the pile of cloth. "Hmm...." Miranda put her nose close to the ground and began sniffing around the area surrounding the tent.
Nose still in the ground, she pointed a question at her new-found companion. "So how did you get involved in this whole big thing?"
[8:48 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: Cabaletto seemed a bit unnerved as the woman bent down to sniff the dirt like a dog. Does her human nose really work as well as her canine one? He stared in bewilderment for a few long seconds before he finally realized she'd directed a question at him.
"Oh! I am merely here to lendth mine aid wherever it may be required." His eyes followed Miranda as she traced the outline of the tent's green fabric cover with her nose, accomanying her search with appropriate sniffing noises. "It is mine duty as a Heron to represent the Isle of White proudly in this collaboration. And I verily cannot let such a foul deed to go unpunished! These villians must be brought to justice for what they have wrought!" His voice rose in fervor as he spoke.
[9:00 PM] Bork Master | Ris: "Oh, you mentioned that Isle of White place before, so that must be home huh?" Miranda mused as she rose from the ground, confident in her investigation. "You sound like some kind of hero or something." She then put her finger to her chin, peeled her ears back, and imagined Cabaletto flying through the air punching bad guys.
[10:46 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: The Heron puffed out his chest proudly at the word 'hero'. "Mine deeds may be numerous, but nay, I wouldst not call myself a true hero yet. That day shalt come when the praise of mine name is on the lips of every Laqueosean!" His yellow eyes glittered as he seemed to lose himself in fantasy. "Man, woman, and child - all will know the name of Cabaletto, the Heron who conquered those who wouldst upset the delicate balance of our world!" His arms were raised high to the sky - or perhaps an imaginary crowd.
His focus snapped back to Miranda as the cheering hordes in his mind's eye faded away. "Of course, I must catch those villains first. And to do so, I need mine rest." He looked down at the unconstructed tent again with distaste.(edited)
[12:21 AM] Bork Master | Ris: Miranda snaps back to reality. "The tent! Well your ground is too soft here, thats why your sticks are going all haywire." She sounds confident and experienced, a swift turn from her previous behavior. "We should move it right over there." She points to the ground about 20 feet away from the current spot. "This area gets a lot more sun and has firmer ground, let me help you carry it!" With that she takes to gathering the cloth mess and hoisting it up.
[5:58 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: He watched as the pecular woman hoisted the shambles of his shelter without waiting for a response and began to carry it over to a sunny patch of grass. Well, I suppose I'm moving now. "Ah! If only I had realized the source of mine misfortunes earlier, this whole mess couldst have been avoided." Cabaletto smacked his forehead with an open palm dramatically to convey his idiocy.
The man gathered up his feathered hat, which was resting on a patch of grass nearby, and uprooted the two support poles from the ground. Goods in arm, he made his way over to where Miranda was attempting to sort out the tent covering on the ground.
"Here art the posts. How shalt we go about this?" The Heron crouched down so he could work more comfortably and waited for instructions. I don't know how she plans to dig here. The ground's much too hard to scoop with your hands.(edited)
[6:28 PM] Bork Master | Ris: She places the materials on the ground and inspects the portion of ground. This might take some animal magic She shifts into her doggy form and begins pawing at the ground relentlessly.
In a short amount of time the dirt is kneaded and disturbed to make is pliable, and Miranda points her nose towards the posts to be placed in the ground. She sits patiently waiting for the heron to bring them to her.

[7:29 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: Oh, right. She can shift into a dog. Cabaletto felt his cheeks flush the slightest bit with embarrassment at his blatant oversight, but he made no comment on it. He watched as Miranda dug a suitable hole dug posthaste with her new claws. Satisfied, she waited wordlessly for him to insert the pole into it.
"Allow me, madame." The Heron shuffled next to the canine and dropped the stake. It bounced between his hands as the tip hit and settled into the soft soil. Is this deep enough? He leaned onto the top of the post with both hands, flailing his wings in an attempt to place more of his, abeit paltry, weight onto it. The force drove the stake a bit deeper into the earth, although perhaps not as much as he would have liked.
"There. Doth thee think that satisfactory?" The man asked as he straightened his hat.
[7:52 PM] Bork Master | Ris: "Bork!" Miranda calmly stood up back into her Beorc form and took a look at the poles. "This should be good enough, I think it will work itself out once we get the tent over it." She scooped up the cloth and began unfurling it to find the correct side, then offered the rest to the Heron.
"I'll put this side over this one, just hold that over there so it doesn't blow some weird direction." She smiled, and asked absentmindedly. "There's a lot of different people in this group now, huh?
[12:42 AM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: He accepted the proffered end of the cloth from Miranda with both hands and clenched it tightly as instructed. After a moment’s though, he responded, “Indeed there art. I have only yet begun to meet them, but I can tell we art an eclectic bunch. Tis to be expected of a group with members hailing from all over Laqueos.”
Cab’s eyes flashed as a thought occurred to him. “Come now, I have already told thee mine reasons for being here, yet you have made no mention of thine. Where dost thou hail from?”
[7:55 PM] Bork Master | Ris: "Oh, I come from Niciri, the place we all gathered in. I just lived in a village a bit south, kinda by the border down there." Miranda rattled this off as her focus remained on the still deconstructed tent. "I grew up with nice parents and overall a really nice life, but I guess they just wanted me to see more of the world."
She closed one eye and looked upwards towards the sky. "There was something someone called me once.....sheltered? I Think that was it, said I didn't know anything about this world. Maybe they were right." Miranda shruged and continued on her project.
[8:49 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: The Heron offered a wide, dashing smile in response. "I can sayeth one thing for certain, my lady. At the very least, you knoweth how to construct a tent. Tis more than I can say." Indeed, Cabaletto's dwelling seemed close to finished. The green fabric was stretched taunt with the aid of his and Miranda's hands, the center beam finally remaining upright as it supported the weight.
"Doth we need secure it now?" He held up a tent peg questioningly.
[1:59 PM] Bork Master | Ris: "Yea! Should hold up after we set those in." Miranda looked proud of herself, and glad to be of assistance in any way that she could. "Maybe I don't know a whole lot about the world out there, but I did learn the things I needed to live my life up 'til now!" She idly wagged her tail as she put work into securing her own side of the tent.
"So I noticed you talk kinda funny, do all people where you're from talk like that?"
[11:46 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: I talk funny? Is that how she thinks of it?
"Alas, mine kin do not share mine particular way of speech," he replied as he pushed a stake into one corner of the tent cover. "They speak in quite the same manner as thee. I suppose thee could say that I am a bit of an oddity amongst Herons." He chuckled good-naturedly as he worked. "I find this much more becoming of a hero of legend. Tis the language of the greatest ballads of all time!"
One peg secured, Cabaletto transferred his focus to the other tent corner and its accompanying peg. "Dost thou find mine speech unpleasant?"(edited)
[11:53 PM] Bork Master | Ris: "Not unpleasant, just weird I guess." Miranda shrugged at this, then began again. "I suppose people are just different in a lot of different ways, huh?"
[11:58 PM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: Great. Now I'm weird too. The Heron frowned internally, feeling a bit insulted.
"Verily. Such is the nature of living beings. The world wouldst be a boring place if we were all the same. After all, art not our differences that which define us?" He offered another bright smile to the Laguz.
"There, I think tis finally finished!" Cabaletto climbed to his feet and dusted the dirt from the knees of his trousers. "I never guessed that such a simple task wouldst be such a pain. I thank thee for thy assistance."
[12:16 AM] Bork Master | Ris: "Yea!" Miranda waned a little, as she had really gotten up to get a bit of food. "I'm starving, I'm gonna go gather up something to eat." She smiled back at the Heron and wagged her tail happily behind her.
"I'm really glad I could be of some help, and I'm happy to have had this conversation!" Her cheery grin turned to a goofy oversmile. She waved as she turned to leave.

[1:00 AM] IronPegasus | Real Spooky: "Twas a pleasure to make thy acquaintance, Miranda!" The Heron waved to her in farewell.
"I look forward to working with thee."(edited)
