[10:08 PM] Silmashiro: Ayer was walking in the streets of Pachima, the rare people facing him on the small road moving to the side to let the intimidating giants walk past. He had just came out of a meeting from the group he just joined. "The Pack" as the young, overactive Beorc seemed to have named it. He had surprised himself when he applied for that expedition. He was at a stalemate in his bow-smithing, and he had no idea what to do from that point. His whole life had just been running from place to place selling his smithing or mercenary talents against some materials or informations, and he had actually did it, refined himself his perfect bow. And yet he felt he could do more, but he had no idea why. In such a state of mind he had heard the rumor about that famous group who would investigate the attack on the money tree. Half interested and half in search of anything that would actually give him a new goal he had sent his application. And he got even more surprised with himself when he had been choosen in the big pool of people, especially after what he had thought to be a failed interview.(edited)
[10:08 PM] Silmashiro: Ayer pushed open the door of "The Shivering Dawn", the inn he was living in for the two month he had been in Pachima. It was probably the most expensive inn around the town, but Ayer could afford that, and not a lot of inns had beds large enough for him and his arms to fit in. Walking toward the counter in his usual heavy step, he stopped when the young girl behind the bar opened big eyes and took two steps back. He opened his arms wide, in a way to show he had no evil intentions, but it just made him appear even more massive and threatening. The young girl ran away inside the kitchen and Ayer was just left alone to sight at the counter. An old man came out by the door the girl had fleed in, wiping his hands on his appron. "Sorry Mr.Graywind. New waitress, I hope you understand." Ayer dropped a small purse on the counter. "It's fine. I'm used to it. Can you give me the usual?" *The old man nodded and grabbed the purse before walking back into the kitchen. Ayer walked in the middle of the massive entrance room that made dining hall, bar, and reception. To his great pleasure, his usual table in the very far corner of the room was unnocupied and he dropped himself on one of the chairs. She creaked under his weight but he did not really pay attention to it, slowly removing his bows and quivers from his back and leaning them to his side, on the wall. He grumbled a thanks to the server who gave him his dinner, and started eating. This was the middle of the stay, he had done nothing except talk with some people, which he admittedly did very rarely, and he was exhausted.

The gentleman's hat idly perched upon the top of one of the other chairs. Unlike Ayer, however, his food was largely untouched, for his attention was largely focused on the book he had before him. Sporting a bright pink cover, the book's title proudly marked it as 'How To Tell If Your Sweetheart Is Actually Plotting Your Murder'. Although not immediately evident without his trademark hat, it was soon clear that the well-dressed man was in fact one of the expedition members who had attended the meeting the other day.
[9:13 AM] Silmashiro: Having wolfed down his food, Ayer wondered on what he was going to do for the rest of his day. He would usually just work at the nearest smithery since he arrived in Pachima. But he didnt feel like doing that today. He was dreading the start of his new mission and yet he could not wait to be on the road. As he was pondering on the question, his gaze stopped on the man in front of him. 'I wonder if they make clothes like that for my size.' He laughed at the image of him wearing a suit and tie before wondering what a man dressed like that could do in Pachima. As he thought the man more than likely came for the expedition, he realized he had actually seen the guy this very day, at the meeting of The Pack. Might as well say hello. Leaving his gear at his table, he walked to the table in front of him and extended a hand, without sitting. "Hey, I'm Ayer. I've seen you at the meeting for the expedition this morning, but we didnt have much time to talk with other people. I'm pleased to meet you."
[10:57 AM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: Fel looked up the Kano man, eyebrows rising fractionally. "Is that so?" He carefully closed his book and set it carefully next to his plate before standing himself. "In that case, the pleasure is all mine. Lucifel Morningstar, at your service." he replied, shaking Ayer's hand. "What brings a fine man like yourself to join our mission?" Lucifel asked, flashing a winning smile. "I find that one's motivations are the easiest means by which to get a grasp of their identity."(edited)
[11:20 AM] Silmashiro: The Kano didnt answer instantly, a litle baffled that Lucifel did not make a step back of even shifted his eyes away. A small smile appeared on his face after hearing the question. A frank person who didnt judge appearances. He already liked the man. "I would like to tell you it is for justice, the greater good, or another heroic reason, but I fear I mostly joined for selfish reasons. I'm a modest blacksmith, and I found myself not wanting or knowing what to forge anymore. A group that would search for the money tree attackers? That sounded interesting. Traveling places I never went to and potentially seeing master of their arts use their weapon sounded like the perfect place to get some inspiration. If I was vain enough, I would say I am searching for my magnum opus." A full teeth smile now shined on the Ayer's face. "Should I bounce the question back? What do you wish to gain from this adventure?" He slowly lowers itself onto a chair before rising again before actually sitting. "Oh. May I sit?"(edited)
[12:01 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "Oh, by all means." Fel replied, gesturing to the seat. "I do hope you'll forgive me for not offering you a seat beforehand." He sat back down in his seat after his acquaintance, before responding to his statements. "I see. So your goal isn't to achieve anything physical, so much as find yourself." He nodded sagely. "And please, selfishness takes no part in it. Quite the opposite, actually. You're a kind soul for trying to help others while seeking greater purpose." The red-haired gentleman placed a hand on his chest lightly. "I myself am here for my work. I'm an esteemed member of the Rettati Bank Union, and as a whole we're rather concerned with the effects that this and future attacks will have on the economy." He gave a sardonic smile. "So I guess you could say I'm here to perform a duty that's expected of me. Quite the discrepancy from your own free-reigning self."
[2:31 PM] Silmashiro: "I'm the one who forced my presence at the table. Thanks." He sits down to face Lucifel and laughs. "Finding myself eh? Sounds way too poetic for someone like me! Greater purpose might be a litle far-fetched too, but I apreciate the kind words." He brushed his hair with his upper left hand as he listened to Lucifel. "A perfectly acceptable answer if you want my opinion. Better a smart and tangible goal than aimless wandering like I do. Owing up to your responsabilities and the faith people placed in you is nothing somebody should ever be ashamed of. I'd like to say I could have done that when people placed their hope in me. I do not know a lot about the Rettati banks, or banks in general mind you, I blame my 'free-reigning self,'" he smiles, "But if this is the path and direction you have picked, I would not be one to judge your choices." A respectful and pleasant person to talk with for sure. If every member of the pack was like that, the traveling would go better than everything Ayer hoped for.
[7:20 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "I'm not so sure you'd openly praise my job if you knew what it consisted of," Lucifel said solemnly. "But that's not the kind of conversation suitable for a pleasant suppertime chat." He nodded his head in the direction of Ayer's massive bow. "I couldn't help but spy earlier as you sat down. Are you truly capable of wielding such a massive instrument? Truly, it's a sight to behold."
[7:53 PM] Silmashiro: 'Doesnt want to talk about his job then. I respect that.' He smile that didnt leave his face since the beginning of the discussion expands into a wider grin when he hears the man's question. "I made it myself! It would truly be a shame if a bow I made from scratch for my own use was something I was not able to wield." He raises his back arms for Lucifel to see them. "It's actually the opposite, I am not able to wield a lot of bows. In my youth I broke a big number of them. Either cause they could not handle the pressure I was putting on the limbs and cracked, or they would melt under, be careful", he cover one of his hands with the thre other, forming a small dome, before a small fire appears in his palm, "This!" He leaves the small flame to dance in the air for a short second before rapidly sweeping it out. "It's actually the main reason of why I started smithing. I simply could not find a bow that could fit me, so young me decided that he would make his own. And I made it, it's solid like me, cannot melt and it has enough space for all my hands. I guess the size could be a problem, but I dont mind it myself and it is not like I could do much. Oh and the strings. They break very fast but you simply cant find strings that would last long under this amount of force." Deep in his own discussion about bows, he gazes at Lucifel, in search of a reaction.
[8:41 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "Impressive." he remarked. "Quite impressive, actually. I've heard praises of Kano smithery, but to produce an instrument as durable and strong as that bow? I imagine it takes quite a bit of skill." Lucifel eyed the small flame cupped in the Kano's palm momentarily. "I can't claim to have ever used a bow, let alone any other weapons, so I can't claim to be an expert. But if you have such a talent for smithery, why not just craft heatproof equipment for Kano? Is there not a market for it?"(edited)
[9:06 PM] Silmashiro: Ayer shakes his head negatively. "I certainly would not be able to do this level of quality for everything. I can craft things for myself cause I know exactly what I want, but I fear my overall smith talents are not good enough to make general versions that could go for everyone. Even if I did there is 3 major problems." He raises 3 hands that he point with his leftover to enumerate. "First, as I said just, I am only really able to craft bows myself. And Kano tribes dont really have the bow in high esteem. Second, the material I used for this bow is not something people usually use. It's not really that rare, but it is very difficult to acquire in the quantity you would need, and even more to work on. Hell, I think half the way I did it was pure luck. Third, the refining technique of that material takes a very long time." He points to his bow. "It took me two entire years to do this. Just, this. Which is a very small bow for something you work two years on. If we did assume there was a market for it, it still would not be something worthwile. You would need extremly talented crafters, to somehow find a way to accelerate the gathering of the material, which is hard, and then you need those crafters to permanently work on the pices for years. A bow is not exactly the hardest form to shape. I cannot even fathom the amount of work shaping an armor would require."

[12:43 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "Quite a shame they can't be mass-produced." Fel said, with a shake of his head. "Or maybe that's just me. My banker sensibilities are trying to find the best way to make profit, even now." He chuckled blithely. "After all, there are certain benefits to the exclusivity." The young man gestured to the bow. "For instance, I doubt many of the other investigation teams can claim to have a bow-wielding Kano in their ranks. Which mean that any individuals who hope to halt our progress will have no experience dealing with your high-powered arrow volleys." Lucifel sat back in his chair, his arms crossed in front of his chest. "It certainly makes me feel safer to know I've got you watching my back."
[1:51 PM] Silmashiro: Ayer waves a hand to the right as if brushing away Lucifel's self depreciative remark. "No I think your point makes sense. If I ever found a way to do it fast, Kano as a whole could greatly benefit from items with extended durability. Cooking, building sites, mining industry, this could make life for lot of persons easier. It requires a generous heart to think about that kind of thing." He rubs his hands while the upper left one seems to crack one of the small spikes of his back shoulders. "I fear you put too much hope in me. I'm not that good of a bowman. And I dont think experienced fighters would be that surprised, I'd be comparable to a .. Those siege weapons that work like a crossbow.. Hm..", he searches the word for some seconds, "Ballista! Comparable to a more mobile ballista, a fleshy one." The kano rolls around the spike between his fingers as he seems to scan Lucifel. "I cant imagine you needing me to cover your back anyway. Somebody who got selected by that dragon for a mission this important is probably no slouch in a fight. I am going to assume you are a magic wielder? You dont have the muscle build of a weapon wielder."(edited)
[3:51 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "Oh, I'm afraid you're quite mistaken." Lucifel shook his head. "I'm as helpless as a newborn babe when it comes to combat." "Not to say I'm not a magic wielder," he said as he let a few black sparks play about his fingers. "But I've never so much as practiced combat arts. As such, I doubt I could utilize the simplest battle tomes. I won't claim to be a pacifist or anything of the like, but the idea inflicting harm upon another has never sat well with me; If the situation calls for it, I'd rather leave it up to more competent folks." As he spoke, he nodded pointedly at Ayer. "Unlike the majority of the group, I'm simply here to contribute towards solving the mystery. I'm chief information officer within the Rettati banks, and as such likely have many skills that will prove useful to the investigation."(edited)
[4:29 PM] Silmashiro: Ayer shrugs. "Probably way more useful than all of us muscleheads. While I talk at length about my bow, the less I will use it the happier I will be. I certainly wish than the armed part of the group will be more of a caution than an actual necessity. But in the case a battle does break out.." He frowns for a second and a small creak happens as the pressure of the Kano's hands intensify on the spike he was playing with, he seem to ignore the sound and go back to smiling. "You might wanna find somebody else to protect you. There's likely stronger people around, and I'm not very good at protecting people. How do you even protect somebody with a bow?" He fakes a laugh.

[7:39 AM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: Lucifel slightly grimaced. "You're certainly correct. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck on that front myself. The first person who I asked didn't seem to take my request seriously, and the second..." He patted the book next to him. "She may or may not attempt to kill me in the near future, and as such, is likely the worst possible choice for a guard." The well-dressed man shrugged nonchalantly. "It's fine. Worse comes to worst, I can always hide behind the back lines, where I should be relatively safe from harm."
[12:03 PM] Silmashiro: Ayers looks genuinely concerned. "Attempt to kill you? Should you be so calm about that? Do you need any help?" Being near him in battle would only put people in danger, but damn if he would not help someone that was in danger.
[10:54 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman EX MODE: "In truth, I'm quite disturbed by the possibility." the man said quietly, not meeting Ayer's eyes. "But worrying over such a thing will do little more than rob me of even more sleep. So for the time being, I just accept it as a distinct possibility that goes hand-in-hand with being a rich and high-ranking member of an important institution." "I also hope you'll understand why I refuse to tell you her name. Despite our differences, she's still a fond acquaintance of mine, and I'd hate for you to have misgivings against her." Lucifel chuckled wryly. "My, my, I sure have a weird standard for friends, eh? I should attempt to make more conventional ones." Lucifel offered his acquaintance a kindly smile. "Starting with you, I hope."

[12:30 PM] Silmashiro: 'A woman it is.' "Somebody threatens your life and you want to make sure I dont think badly of them? You are way too kind for your own good Mr.Morningstar. Do call me if you need help with that still." Ayer smiled. "I dont know if I am conventional, but it would be a pleasure for me to be your friend."
