mrrp: "Himaya and the tree's mint tea" on September 23, 2017 Cast: Himaya (Sky) & Seed (Deme) Support Points Earned: 1 [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 2 days ago The Florkana at first found himself drifting somewhat aimlessly through the meetinghouse, smiling and giving a few greetings to whoever met his eye; names were exchanged. Aimless because nothing had quite caught his attention, besides a happy little greeting for Suleiman and Mars, who he'd met before; it was hard for him to decide how to spend his time here... And it gradually lured a knot and furrow into the space between his brows, from concern. And so, for a small time he vanished to a corner of the meeting-hall with a fire and a kettle, as well as a number of small cups: he'd brought an aromatic, inoffensive mint tea, and began busying himself straining and pouring it. Now people would come to him for a cup of tea, and he could greet them one at a time. The cups were a mix-and-match hodgepodge, assembled from the meeting hall's supplies mostly... Except two particular cups. They were sturdy-looking mugs, but with a rather pretty blue-green sheen, with purple and white flowers raised up the sides. Seed bowed his tall figure over one of the tables, pouring one into this with a faint smile on his face, as the nose-tickling smell of mint rose into the air around him. permalink embed save parent spam remove report give gold reply [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 1 day ago* Himaya was being a good host, casually going around, giving them "hi"s and "hello"s and shaking their hand with a smile. But then he smelt this smell. The smell of something vaguely sweet and minty... He didn't know quite what it was, besides alluring. He smelled the air and followed it to its source: a person with what looked to be branches. Maybe they were horns? And they were wearing quite the greenery, to say the least. Eh, maybe they're just outdoors-y. Regardless, he directed a smile towards the person with the nice-smelling beverages. "Heya, I'm Himaya! And you must be some Laguz I've never seen before... Maybe a deer Laguz? I dunno, but anyway, it's nice to meet you. What's your name, friend?" Himaya extended out his hand for a handshake, while giving off a welcoming smile. "Also: Wanna share any of that drink that smells so good? I can exchange it for some meat. Y'know, for this "meat and greet" thing we have going on." He said playfully, showing a bag of jerky in his other hand. permalink embed save parent edit disable inbox replies delete spam remove distinguish reply [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 1 day ago Seed turned towards the young man and, for a moment, every part of what he was saying was so odd that it felt like the ground hung somewhere above their heads, and the whole building had come upside-down. This was not the first person who'd never seen and couldn't guess a Florkana. This was the first person who thought a meet and greet was a meat and greet. Nontheless, Seed smiled, and tried to shake the feeling of dreamlikeness settling over him. He took the offered hand, allowing flesh to meet delicate, papery bark; in contrast to its inhuman texture, a warmth seeped along Seed's fingers. Their hands bobbed once or twice, at least by Seed's own effort, before parting. "My name is Seed Viridius -- though I think Seed has always suited me best, rather than relying on something long and ostentatious. However, you're mistaken. I'm not a Laguz of any sort. I'm a Florkana, an entirely different species from Beorc or Laguz, resembling plants as much as they do other races. Florkana are from the Arbor Aurelius, so you might end up seeing a lot more." Seed poured a cup of tea into one of the paired mugs as he wandered through a mostly rote introduction to his own nature, watching the stream with a quiet, self-contained set to his face, his eyes reflecting the play of light as the color of tea gradiated, starting light and becoming a deep brown color. There were a lot of ways in which he was not typical, or the best example. All the same, he passed Himaya the mug of tea. "We're as varied as there are plants in this world, taking form from all, from the sturdiest succulent to the most ephemeral blossom... The drink is a mint tea, while I'm at it. Which means all, Florkana, Tea, and Seed, introduced." Seed smiled at his own little (he'd be the first to admit, very little) joke. "I don't eat meat, so I'll settle for a meeting instead." permalink embed save parent spam remove report give gold reply [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 23 hours ago "Huh, how odd... Florkana Laguz are like plant people..." He muttered to himself, trying to understand. "Regardless, though, it is nice to meet you. Even you if you don't want meat, at least we can meet, right? Haha" He reached out and accepted the tea. He brings it up to his nose and smells it, accompanying it with a sigh of relief. "Ahhhhhh, smells so good. I almost don't wanna drink it..." Then he drinks a good half of the tea in one gulp. "...almost. Heh. 'S good tea, I must say. What's your secret, Seed? Some 'Florkana' magic?" "Some Laguz have different abilities than others, like Herons. Perhaps this 'Florkana' Laguz can make good tea? 'S a strange trade-off if you ask me. But strange in a good way though, it is good tea." Himaya thought to himself as he happily sipped on what remained of his tea. permalink embed save parent edit disable inbox replies delete spam remove distinguish reply [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 21 hours ago "Other than the Laguz part, that's basically correct...Are you familiar with the idea of species?" Seed's smile was undaunted by the weight of the furrow forming between his brows. But it was definitely there. He wasn't entirely sure why a direct statement hadn't communicated. Still, seeing someone enjoy his efforts relaxed him, and he took a cup of the tea himself -- the other mug, from his own set. It had been a pretty thing, and so bringing it here was something of a risky indulgence, but he thought it would be some peace of mind to see it. He shook his head, smiling. "Oh, not at all. While something like that is possible, in... A number of ways... What we have here is a result of simple gardening. Though I suppose," He tilted his head back and his expression grew thoughtful, his eyes narrowing to a dreamy line of green, "That something like that can be called magic, if looked at with the right eyes -- as most things can, I find. But I grew the mint for this tea, and made its blend, myself. Both things are idle past-times, letting me watch the weeks and seasons roll by with special inflection." They were also things that allowed him to pad out his trade between books and commissions, between performances and orders. "I'm glad you like it, though." permalink embed save parent spam remove report give gold reply [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 11 hours ago* "Well o'course I'm familiar with the idea of species! There are plenty of kinds of Laguz! There are canine, like foxes and wolves, and avian like hawks and herons, and there are feline, both big and small, and even dragon and elephant! And equine, like horse, and even deer and somesuch! And many, many more! ...and L-like Tree Laguz!" Himaya explained his vast knowledge of Laguz, counting off each type with a finger. He added in that last part, wanting to make Seed feel included. He didn't want to be rude, after all. "Y'see," he continued with a proud pose, "I grew up with wolf Laguz, so I'd say I'm rather acquainted with the idea of Laguz species...and Beorc, them too. Though I won't lie, for a while there, I thought Beorc like me were just some sort of hairless monkey Laguz. B-but I realize that's not the case now! But they're more alike than you'd think. Just a strange Laguz that can't shift. And doesn't have those furry ears and tails and whatnot. Haha, being the only one of my kind in a same, remote wolf village has made it quite confusing to understand." Himaya tried to give him context so he'd be more in the know, all the while drinking the last of his wonderful tea. He felt like he'd talked about himself enough and wanted to move the conversation back to Seed's tea. He didn't want him to think himself self-absorbed or anything. "...but yeah, you must be a Florkana magician to make this good of tea. And you say it's organic, huh? Have any more to share, friend? Oh wait... You're part of the investigation, aren'tcha? Heh, that means I can drink this stuff instead of water right?? Hehehe..." Himaya wasn't afraid to compliment Seed all day long. He truly did enjoy the tea. He never had anything this nice-tasting back in Maulu. He laughed to himself and extended his hand out, showing the empty cup. permalink embed save parent edit disable inbox replies delete spam remove distinguish reply [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 9 hours ago "I see... That's... A heavy burden for a young man." To be pieced together out of fractions, a little of this and a little of that -- assembled, not as a whole, but steps in a recipe, the world a series of windows with faint reflections, or broken mirrors -- here an eye, here a branch. This young man... Was probably a Branded, then: or else an orphan. 'Parentless.' Seed's heart grew heavy for a moment, and it was clear on his face: not pity, but haunted and lonely, as if he was looking at his reflection in the deep blue sea. "I can understand that feeling." "But I mean of species besides Laguz. You shouldn't call a bat a type of bird, even if they both fly. And even though a bird Laguz can fly, you wouldn't want to say that they're a bird that's not a Laguz. It's like that with Laguz and Florkana, too, and with Laguz and some of the other people in this room. We're all people, the way a Laguz or a Beorc is a person -- but we're not Laguz, and we're not Beorc. The world is vast, so it might be something you understand better with time." The flattery teased a smile across his face in spite of himself -- perhaps a little more false than before he'd begun thinking about these questions, and trying to explain it simply. He poured Himaya another cup of tea. "Hm -- I am a magician, but this tea is only a magic of the heart... Something of that nature, anyway. But if you want some more as we travel, it's no trouble to ask." [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 9 hours ago* Himaya continues, unintentionally glazing over Seed's explanation about Laguz and other species, such as Florkana. "Yeah, growing up Beorc in a land of wolf Laguz wasn't always easy... But they accepted me like one of their own, even if I didn't look like they did and couldn't even shift. It was easier when my parents were around, but for some reason or another, they had to leave. But they promised me and my Papa that they'd be back... But despite them leaving, the village still happily cared for me. It's something I'm eternally grateful for and I'll surely have to pay back somehow. But joining Zain is a good way to start, y'know?" Himaya forced a smile. Talking about his parents and the village like this made him a bit sad. He didn't want to be judged for who he is and where he came from... He tried to think positively. "B-but will you truly make this tea like... All the time?? I'd love that!! Now c'mon, let's go mingle with the others, they have to try some!!" Himaya now gave a more genuine smile and gestured for Seed to follow him around the place. permalink embed save parent edit disable inbox replies delete spam remove distinguish reply [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 6 hours ago At that moment, Seed decided he was going to protect this kid. Maybe it was something about the little details in his description, the 'for some reasons,' the reassurance a few times over that he was accepted, the way it placed something onto his shoulders. Another little partial mirror, and a certain instinct, indistinct as a wisp of smoke, that perhaps someone had even felt this way about him, once -- but perhaps less selfishly, too. Either way, he'd try to ease the boy's way. "It's wonderful that you had them... But I hope you get something out of all of this yourself. Even if it's just my tea," Seed said, taking the tray of cups he'd arranged for others and following after Himaya, a warm smile on his face. permalink embed save parent spam remove report give gold reply [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 4 hours ago "Even if I'd only get your tea out of any of this... I'd say it's a success enough for me. But I wish the same for you, Seed. I'll help ya any way I can, promise. All ya need to do is holler my way" Himaya smiled. He was a always happy to make another friend. Another friend to help and protect. permalink embed save parent edit disable inbox replies delete spam remove distinguish reply [–]LadyDemeGM (K) | Oisin, Changeling | Seed, Priest 1 point 3 hours ago == RP End == permalink embed save parent spam remove report give gold reply [–]Skywolf333Team A GM | Himaya, Chaser 1 point 4 hours ago ===RP End=== Comments
