Interview RP: Suleiman, the Jera Troubadour

Cast: Saarva (Sky) & Suleiman (Clay)

[9:34 PM] Best Birb | Sky: Interview RP: Suleiman - @Happy Robot Saarva had been doing a bit of stretches. He had figured he had taken enough time sitting in his chair for so long and thought his body needed some movement. He was feeling a bit stiff and cramped. "Well, as they say: (Active body, active mind)" he said, noting another proverb. He had continued doing some stretches, in wait for his next applicant. He was a bit excited to see a Jera, as he hadn't seen much of them as of late.(edited)
[9:46 PM] Happy Robot: Before long, Saarva hears a knock on the door to the office, followed by an old, creaky voice. “This is the office of Saarva, correct?” The voice was somewhat weak, but firm nonetheless. On the other side of the door, Suleiman was standing nervously. Have I come off as too polite with that statement? Too hesitant? They wouldn't write somebody off due to their age, right?
[9:52 PM] Best Birb | Sky: Saarva stood up straight and reached high. He figured this was a nice end to his streches. He decides to take a different approach to his interview and clips the application onto a clipboard. He goes toward the door and opens it, greeting the person with a smile. "Come right on in, I've been waiting. You can sit right here, or you can stand if you wish." Saarva said as he guided him to the crate inside. "You are Suleiman, correct?" he said a bit confused. He was expecting a Jera, but he didn't look like one he'd ever seen before. However, he didn't wanna be rude, so he tried his best to hide any confusion on his face or in his voice.
[10:04 PM] Happy Robot: Suleiman's smile fades a little as he hears the interviewer's confusion. It was barely enough to be visible, but it was still something that was noticable. "Yes, I am Suleiman. 'Suleiman, Husband of Marisha', if you are one to care for full names." He starts walking to the crate infront of the desk after saying this. "Am I right in assuming that this is my seating arrangement?"(edited)
[10:07 PM] Best Birb | Sky: "Ah, glad to know I have the right person then." the dragon said with a smile as he extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm afraid that's the only thing we have for applicants. I only got to keep my chair because I brought it with me from the Domain." he said, with a slightly chuckle. "If you don't mind, I think I'll stand. My legs are a little tired from sitting. Now, would you care to tell me any notable talents and how they'd help us with the investigation?"
[10:22 PM] Happy Robot: The Moth has to fly up a bit to get onto the crate, but he manages to get himself seated. He leans forward to accept the handshake. "The crate is fine, honestly. I've delt with much more uncomfortable seats in my past." As he hears the question, his smile fades, turning into a more thoughtful expression. After a moment of thought, he speaks. "I have a large amount of experience in public speaking, and I have attained a good skill at debating with others and convincing of various things." "Though, if you were looking for something more... corporeal, I do know how to heal wounds with a staff."(edited)
[10:26 PM] Best Birb | Sky: Saarva begins writing a few notes, still listening to him talk. Public speaking :white_check_mark: Persuasion :white_check_mark: Can use staves :white_check_mark: "Hypothetically speaking, are you able to fight on the battlefield, if you had to? Or would you be someone we'd need to actively protect?" the dragon asked, pointedly. He didn't seem to come across as agressive or rude, but he was certainly a bit serious, yet also curious.
[10:40 PM] Happy Robot: Suleiman chuckled. "Well, look at me. I am quite old for a Jera, and frail because of it. I doubt that I could use a weapon well regardless if I had the training to use one. Magic would be a different matter entirely. Unfortunately, I have not studied many offensive tomes in my time." He didn't seem to take any offence at the answer at all. Suleiman looks up to the staff by his side, looking into the blue jewel that topped it. "I guess I could hit an attacker with this stick, if I must." He lets out another chuckle. "I ride a horse into battle, so it would not be much of a problem for me to retreat in a bad situation. Also, I do know how to use enchantments on the ground, as most Jera do." He looks back to Sarrva, an inquisitive look on his face. "You know what Jera enchantments are, right?"
[10:44 PM] Best Birb | Sky: "Ah I see..." Honest :white_check_mark: Has horse :white_check_mark: Ready to defend oneself, despite only a staff :white_check_mark: Has Jera enchantments :white_check_mark: "I've only heard of Jera enchantments by word of mouth. I've never had the pleasure -- nor displeasure -- of seeing one with my own eyes before. Would you care to describe more to me about it?" Saarva asked, with a questioning look.(edited)
[10:56 PM] Happy Robot: "Jera enchantments are a magic that most; if not all Jera learn in their lifetime. To do it, a Jera has to say a short phrase, then wave our hands over the ground we stand on. The ritual creates an enchantment over a small circle around where we cast it, giving an effect to anybody standing in the circle. The effect depends on the phrase we speak, and can range from giving the people inside heightened senses, to simply making them mad and unreasonable. It takes a toll on our bodies to maintain the enchantment, and we can dispel it at any time we like. I could give it a more thourough examination, but I feel like I would be boring you if I did." The Jera goes through this with various hand guestures and movements to help explain his point, all while looking somewhat bored while doing this. It looks as if he's had to explain this many times before.
[11:02 PM] Best Birb | Sky: "Wow, that explanation is even more exciting than what I've been told... I'm sure that helps when it comes from a Jera themself!" he said with a smile, his curiosity satiated a little. "Perhaps you could show me sometime, I'd love to see it in action." he said as he continued his notes Magic enchantments :white_check_mark: Helpful to allies :white_check_mark: "I do believe that's all the questions I have, for now at least. If you stay in Pachima for a few more days, you'll be sure to be notified should you be accepted. And if you'd like to take a candy on the way out, I have some for you by the door. I'm sure you'd love some, as I've heard Jera enjoy their sweets. It was nice to chat." Saarva had finished his notes, and looked up at Suleiman with a comforting smile. Despite his appearance not being what he expected, he made note of his skills and personality. He began to sway from side to side slightly.(edited)
[11:19 PM] Happy Robot: "Don't feel the need to lie about the explanation, dragon. Enchantments are really nothing that special; I am sure people of your backround can do things just as impressive." As he gets up from the crate, Suleiman looks down to the jar with a bored expression. His lips curled in amusement at Saarva's comment. "Yes, us Jera like our sweets. I think that we like them a bit too much for our own good, honestly. It makes it hard to eat food from different cultures." Suleiman reaches into the jar, grasping a candy with the tip of his thumb and index finger. They looked strange, having a segmented shape that was unlike most other fingers. He takes it out of the jar, pocketing it. "Thank you for the oppourtunity, Saarva. I hope to see you again." Suleiman exits the room, closing the door behind him.(edited)
[11:37 PM] Best Birb | Sky: "...I thought the enchantments were interesting though...At least he took the candy, I suppose. How interesting..." Saarva one another note before filing away the application.
