Interview RP: Lucifel, the Ingwaz Monk

Cast: Saarva (Mappy) & Lucifel (Dea)

[1:05 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: Interview RP: Fel - @Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0 Saarva remained at the desk, still idly flipping through papers. Aside from the interviews themselves, he's gotten mostly everything done by this point. He was just double checking that he wasn't missing anything. He had his interview papers for the next applicant ready, and he should be coming through the door momentarily.(edited)
[1:25 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: In the waiting room directly outside, Fel checked his timepiece. Well. I best not keep the man waiting. he thought, folding his pocketbook into the breast pocket of his suit jacket. He stood from his seat, pausing only to brush off any specks that had accrued on his sharp black suit. The crimson-haired man rapped shortly on the door to Saarva's interview room, giving the man inside a few seconds to compose himself before he opened the door and stepped in. "Saarva, I presume?" he inquired, continuing after the man's face didn't show any confusion. "I hope you'll forgive me for being blunt with you; I don't see why this interview is necessary." The young man's voice was smooth, with the vaguest hint of an accent of unknown origin. Professional, and free of whatever irritation Fel might have been feeling at this moment. "I'm sure you're aware that the Alaros Banker's Union has already submitted an appeal for representation within your group, which has already been approved." "The fact that you would still need to review their choice of delegate reflects quite poorly on Ramalia." Fel leaned forward slightly, his voice calm and impassive despite his charged words. "You do trust the Banker's Union, yes? Though I suppose I'd understand if you said trust was in short order, concerning the recent events."(edited)
[1:29 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: He looked up from his paperwork, "Oh, don't think that - the Banker's Unions are some of the most respected organizations in Laqueos. This interview is simply taking place because the Drakone needs to choose from a very large group of applicants, you see. Even if delegations were sent from hundreds of groups, we simply don't have the resources to take each and every one of them. This interview will help us select from the delegations who would be most useful to our search. That make sense to you?" He paused, "Either way, we must get started. Many applicants are coming in for interviews today. Come take a seat and we'll begin."
[1:44 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: Fel nodded shortly, deigning to take a seat with a polite word of thanks. A shame. Though I must admit, there was next to no chance of avoiding the interview. Now all I can hope for is that my identity can hold up under inspection... "Lucifel Morningstar, Chief Information Officer within the Alaros Banker's Union for 3 years, with 3 years in the organization beforehand." he spoke, pausing slightly with each answer for Saarva to record. "Beorc, age 24, unmarried, with no children." To Saarva, it would have seemed he was simply trying to expedite the simpler part of the interview process, but Fel purposefully jumped immediately from one subject to the next without prompt, so as to make it harder for his interviewer to inquire specifically about any single answer. "Oh, and my blood type is O positive." Fel smiled politely, trying to take his focus off of the rhythmic pounding of his heart.(edited)
[1:55 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Umm, thank you for the information, but I'm sorry to inform you that none of that is really relevant to this interview. Instead, I will be asking you various questions about less specific topics. For example, let us start with this one. What are some of your strongest talents, abilities, or skills that you think could prove useful during the course of the investigation? What makes you stand out, so to speak." Saarva took the pen from the jar of ink, but didn't write down any of Fel's quick facts - he already had most of it from the initial application, and the rest wasn't needed.
[2:09 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: Oh gods, they don't even care about an applicant's background? Forget finding out my identity, there's every chance they'll end up hiring a band of serial killers just because they've got better skills... A ghost of a frown appeared on his face. "Oh, of course. My apologies. Let's see..." He said. "My work at the Alaros Banker's Union had given me a wide variety of experience regarding the investigation and analysis of information." Fel leaned back slightly, hands folded contently in front of himself. "Primarily within the world of economics and trend analysis, but my skills extend to just about any field. I for example, know that so far the majority of your applicants have been untrained commoners and mercenaries. You're quite understaffed on the investigative side, no? I have no doubt that you're in dire need of members that can contribute to the part of the mission that doesn't involve stabbing people."(edited)
[2:24 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "You would be correct. However, what we need most are well-rounded volunteers," he spoke as he noted down Lucifel's response to his question, "and you seem to have that covered." Saarva flipped over the page, "So another question. In the case we must return to Arbor Aurelius, what would you, if it was up to you, do to gain information about the recent attack? How would you go about gathering clues and data, that is."
[2:41 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: Fel smiled thinly. "Oh, I'm afraid that's a trade secret. Or at least my more... unconventional methods are. I can't have you replacing me, now can I?" He straightened his suit jacket before resuming. "But as for the normal means? It would involve speaking with eyewitnesses regarding what they saw, with the hope of gathering details that were passed over previously. Physical evidence would also be merited. For example, I could view the indentations that the hulls of the boats made on the sand, and use the accounts of witnesses to get an even better idea. Afterwards, I would cross-reference these designs with the design patterns of different nations, with the intent of narrowing down suspects, at the very least."
[2:44 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Have you been involved with investigations before?" the dragon inquired, "You seem to have a very good idea about what you're doing, going into this - more specific than other applicants asked the same question."
[3:37 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: The Ingwaz's heart rate accelerated as he mentally froze. Ah, shit shit shit... "Is that so?" he inquired, throwing a casual response while trying to regain his mental composure. It's okay, he's just asking an innocent question. There's no way he could find out my real profession from this anyway. The man shook his head. "I'm afraid it's simply a testament to my skill, rather than experience. I don't see cases such as this one in my line of work." he responded, throwing in a light chuckle for effect. "Though I do consider myself a fan of mystery novels, so it could just be that I've already got the right mindset."
[3:41 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "I am not sure that mystery novels are the best way to learn more about investigating, but I suppose it has worked for you," Saarva responded, laughing a bit. After recording the answer on the page, the dragon continued, "Well, just one question for you today. Do you believe that the world's banking organizations do their job as efficiently and fairly as possible, as a member of one? If you had to choose, what is one way you'd improve them?"
[4:17 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: "My, my. Are you actually asking me to provide insight into the business practices of my company?" This was accompanied by a bemused smile. "In regards to the operation of Alaros Banking, I'm afraid I can only provide you with a generic 'We put the customer first, and company second' in terms of out priorities. As for other companies? More or less as would be expected of a institution devoted to holing away the money of it's users." As he spoke, he took out his pocketbook and laid it on the table. Opening it to a specific page, the criminal ran his fingers lightly over the enchantments inscribed within. The runes glowed lightly, before letting out a pop and fizzle of magical energy. The air seemed to crackle with magic as Fel sat back, satisfied. "My apologies. This is emitting a harmless charge of magic to disrupt magical listening spells and the like," he said as he looked over the pocketbook to make sure it was working correctly. "You can never be too safe." He leaned forward, not unlike a small child attempting to bequeath a deep secret. "There is one organization acting oddly. As you likely know, Rettati's government and banking institution are one and the same, due to the nature of their plutocracy. Due to their corrupt nature and lack of support in the investigation, they're the prime suspect for the attack on Arbor Aurelius." His voice was hushed, urgent. The reason was readily apparent; the runes on the pages of his notebook were already dimming from loss of power. He evidently couldn't hold the charm for long. "But my sources within their bank reported no large shifts in money, either before or after the attack. The Symvoulvio is unlikely to have either funded the attack, or directly benefited from it. I wouldn't say that I'm sure that they're not behind it one way or another, but it's far more likely a third party-"
[4:17 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: He cut himself off as the spell inscribed in his pocketbook completely dimmed. The Ingwaz continued speaking on a completely different ubject, as if he had been all along. "It's the only way to properly stabilize the current shifts in economic balance that we've been seeing lately due to the fear of Arbor Aurelius. I'm sure that the merger of the banks with the World Tree will benefit everybody, as well as providing increased security for the source of Leaves. I intend to propose the idea at the next presentation within my company." He quietly retrieved his checkbook and placed it back inside his jacket from where it had come. Fel smiled in an embarrassed manner. "But look at me, blathering on about other topics. Please forgive me. I take it that's all?"
[4:21 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Ah, yes, that's everything I have for you today, Lucifel," Saarva stood up and put out his hand for a handshake, "Thank you for your answers. We'll be letting you know if you've been accepted in the next few days, assuming you remain here in Pachima."
[4:27 PM] Deallocate | Hackerman 2.0: Fel shook his hand tightly. "But of course. Thank you for your time." Gods know this was a pointless waste of it. he thought to himself as he stepped out of the door, before quietly closing it behind himself.
[4:28 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "No candy for him then, I suppose." Saarva went back to his paperwork.
