[11:31 AM] Mappy | Best Dog: Interview RP: Daniël - @Turtleye
Saarva looked down at the piles of paper on the desk and sighed - admittedly, he kind of needed a break from all of this writing. Either way, he prepared his pen and papers, waiting for the next applicant to arrive at the little shack being used for the interviews.
[11:38 AM] Turtleye: Daniël walked up to the door of Saarva's "office". He had arrived only an hour ago, as Pachima was close to Niciri's capital.
During his travel, he'd gone over what questions would likely be asked during the interview and prepared accordingly. Mentally checking off what he had prepared, he turned the door knob, swung the door open and greeted Saarva with a smile before making a bow.
"Hello, Saarva", he said, pausing for a second because Daniël realized he didn't know the Dragon Laguz's last name, if he had any. "I'm Daniël and it's a pleasure to meet you."
[11:40 AM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Nice to meet you as well. Come sit down on that crate across from me, and we'll be able to get started right away," the dragon motioned towards the open seat on the other side of the desk. It was just a simple wooden box, but it will do for a short interview.
[11:45 AM] Turtleye: Daniël sat down on the wooden crate. It wasn't the most comfortable seat, but he'd been through worse. After taking a quick look around the room - noticing the stack of papers on the desk, most likely containign more detailed information about the investigation, as well as notes about other appliciants - he looked back at Saarva. "Let's get started then", Daniël said.(edited)
[11:48 AM] Mappy | Best Dog: He nodded, "First question. What do you believe to be some of your finest talents, skills, and/or abilities? How would they be useful to use here on the investigation? In other words, why would you be a good choice for us to bring along?" He readied his pen.
[12:02 PM] Turtleye: The first question is exactly like Daniël expected. "Let's see..." he started, pretending to be thinking about his answer. "First off, as I've worked as a diplomat for the country of Niciri for a long while now, I know quite a bit about the different countries of Laqueos. Not only on their political environment, but also cultural and economic aspects of the countries. Though, I must say, this differs from country to country, as some bits and pieces only come from what i've heard from others. Aside from Millo, I can understand a little bit of Pallo though I have trouble speaking it. And," he added with a little smile, "I am fluent in politics."
"Aside from that, I can ride pegasi and have one of my own, Florian" he said whilst motioning towards the window. "I can likely be of use by scouting ahead from above or carrying people or goods faster than someone who doesn't have access to the sky. Also, I tend to be able to prevent conflicts within a group of people, should that ever be neccesary."
"But", he added with a more serious look on his face, "I am not a very good fighter. Sure, I can hold my own in battle thanks to my agility, but despite my admittedly short military experience, I am not very strong. I know that I should be "selling" myself as to why I'm a good addition to this investigation party, but in my opinion if there is a downside to something, it should be mentioned. Concealing facts only hinders progress, after all"(edited)
[12:07 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Not everyone has to be the best fighter, remember - this is an investigation, not a military. People with various talents will be helpful for our purposes. It is refreshing to hear someone highlight some abilities other than those useful for combat," Saarva then took a moment to record Daniël's answers on the papers.
After doing so, he continued, "So you say you're a diplomat. What are some positions or business trips or the like you've taken recently? Have they granted any sort of useful insight on recent world politics and events, such as perhaps the recent attack?"
[12:17 PM] Turtleye: "Hmm..." Daniël thought. When was the last time I've been to Rettati or Naxos he thought to himself. "For the noteworthy countries, I've been to Naxos about 4 months ago, as well as Arbor Aurelius on the way back from Naxos. I recall there were some rumors about some "journey to the paradise" going around in the slumps of Milesburg, but what it was about exactly or who was behind this, I do not know as it struck me as just another thing for the poor people in Naxos and Rettati. Those things tend to happen when people don't have a very promising future. I've just returned from Psari, as they have just elected a new parliament, but I can't quite think of anything noteworthy that happened during my stay there."(edited)
[12:22 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Interesting... That's alot of information, so it seems you really know your way around the world," Saarva noted everything down. It took a little while, but eventually he got it done. He dipped the pen into the ink again so he could continue to write after the final question.
"Last question for you. What do you believe to be a likely motive for the culprits of the attack? There is no right answer, of course, so just say what you think might be the case."
[12:28 PM] Turtleye: Interesting, Daniël hadn't expected this one. "The obvious assumption would be that it was an attempt at stealing Leafs, however dumb this attempt might have been. After all, Arbor Aurelius is the source of Laqueos' currency. However," he added, "another possibility, and my own theory, is that this attack was merely to scout how big of a threat the forces on the island with the Money Tree are. I think someone - or something - might be planning to attack the island again to seize the Money Tree and control of the financial situation in Laqueos, however stupid this decision may be."(edited)
[12:31 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "So you're suggesting the possibility of a follow-up attack?" responded the dragon.
[12:35 PM] Turtleye: "Yes, and this sentiment is shared among some of Nicirian politicians", Daniël said. "Ofcourse, this might not hold true, but it would be very odd to have a single attack seemingly out of nowhere which has clearly been prepared as the assailant's outfits all were similar, not to mention the possibility of magic being involved."
[12:36 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Your thought process is somewhat similar to ours at the Drakone," Saarva commented, before returning his pen to the paper and writing the responses down.
"Well, Daniël, those are all the questions I have for you today," he stood up and put his hand out for a handshake.
[12:41 PM] Turtleye: "It's been a pleasure, and I hope I can be of use in the future" Daniël responded before shaking the Dragon Laguz's hand. "Before I go, am I expected to stay around Pachima for the remainder of the process, and if not, when will the results be known? Because the Nicirian government only needs me back when the interview and application process is over, I have some free time and I want to visit my parents who live about 6 hours of flight south of here. Would that be possible?"
[12:46 PM] Mappy | Best Dog: "Mmmm, I suppose so, but make sure you're back in about, say, two days. We'll be informing everyone if they've been selected for the party then. But of course, if we can't find you, you can't come," Saarva sat back down.
"There's a jar of candy by the door - take one on your way out if you'd like. I'll be seeing you," he said, concluding the interview.
[12:53 PM] Turtleye: "I'll be sure to be here in two days then. Goodbye, Saava." And with that, Daniël walked to the door, stopping by the candy jar and taking one out. He didn't like candy that much himself, but he knew Florian would enjoy it. After grabbing a green one, he opened the door and left the room.
